So you are remodeling the kitchen and having a great time. There are so many different aspects of the kitchen from the counter tops to the flooring. The backsplash is the part of the wall that should be decorative and which is usually featured behind the sink and stove. There are so many different colors, styles and materials to choose from that you will certainly not be left without enough options. You will always be safer when you choose your counter top before your backsplash. Some people like to do it the other way around but the counter tops are more important and more expensive.

Once you have decided on the counter top you can work on choosing a backsplash that compliments it nicely. It can be a bit overwhelming with all the options you have available to you but you can find something nice. There are lots of design books and design ideas online so you can get a better idea. Keep in mind that the average measurements for a kitchen backsplash are 16 to 18 inches of height so you really do not have that much space to work with.

Some people choose to have their backsplash cover the entire length of a wall while others prefer to keep it shorter. A lot of homeowners choose to have the backsplash shorter and only covering the area behind the sink or oven. If there happen to be any electrical outlets in the way you are going to have to make a whole new decision. Figure out whether there is a way to incorporate them into your design or if you would prefer to just get rid of them.

If you think that there is just no way to keep them in it is not that expensive to get them taken out. Color is so important in a kitchen and you want to keep everything clean and minimal looking. Make it a space that you will enjoy being in and bringing your guests to for eating and entertainment purposes. The backsplash is a major part of any kitchen and once you have that done the hard part is over.
