LED Lighting in the Workplace

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 1 1

The majority of people work in an office building and know that it has florescent lights, most people hate these lights.  In terms of the florescent lights that are in office buildings, they can cause issues.  Many people have found that they cause eye strain and headaches and many other things.  The good news is, today, there are other options out there that can make it easier to work in the office and make it easier on your eyes to get through the day.  LED lighting is the new thing that many office buildings are looking for, so there are a lot of companies that are working to switch out there lighting from the florescent bulbs that are out there and go over to the LED lights that are more popular today and far more energy efficient.

For most offices, they find it difficult to even think that LED lights can provide the light that they need to work, but the good news is that they can.  The white light that comes off of the LED lights is enough to ensure that people can see, the workplace is bright, and also it is better on their eyes.  For a lot of people, this is a huge difference and will help them be able to work more comfortably.  Cree is a company that is striving to help other people and offices reduce their use on energy and reduce their costs.  Cree has designed LED light sources that are going to really help the office workplace lighting situation and make it a lot easier to reduce energy dependence in the workplace in general.

LED lights in general last longer than the florescent bulbs, this is great because you won’t need to replace them as often, which cuts down the cost.  The LED lights will actually last up to 50,000 hours which means that they can be run for 12 hours a day for more than 10 years, which is amazing!  Hands down, there isn’t a light that is going to last longer than an LED bulb.  Even better, although there is a cost to replace traditional bulbs with the LED, Cree found out that in a year, the companies will actually recoup their costs in the energy that they are saving and the less energy that they are using and being billed for.  That is pretty amazing!

LED lights in the workplace are a great idea because they are going to make it so that companies are using less energy and are saving a lot of money.  Cree has made it their job to really work with business to help them replace those old and outdated florescent bulbs and instead look at the LED lighting options.  Sure, there are going to be costs that are going to be accrued by installing these new lights, but what Cree found is that businesses will actually save over the years a lot of money by how much less energy that they are going to be paying for.

The price is coming down quickly too. Last year, a LED bulb equivalent to a 60W incandescent was $50. I bought one for $26 in May and just saw a news article that someone has a 60W equivalent LED coming out for $12. The one I bought for the home office in May works great - very bright!
