Lake Minnetonka Homes with a Waterfront View

By | Jun 7, 2010 | 1 Comments | Rating: 0

Minnesota is a state famous for its lakes and many buyers looking for a home here would like to have a property with a waterfront view. One of the best areas to look for lakefront property in the state is around Lake Minnetonka, which is located about twelve miles to the southwest of Minneapolis. The towns surrounding the lake, like Chaska, Wazata, Mound or Orono, are all considered to be suburbs of the Twin Cities Minneapolis and St. Paul and are suitable for commuters who work in the city.

There are many Lake Minnetonka homes on the market at almost any given time, because the lake is large with over 120 miles of shoreline due to its shape which creates many bays and islands. It is not uncommon for these homes to have more than fifty feet of private shoreline and that allows for easy access to the lake for boating, swimming or fishing.

Lake Minnetonka homes not only offer great views of the water and surrounding areas, but also many recreational opportunities and exclusive properties. The homes are generally large and luxurious, but in order to purchase real estate on Lake Minnetonka a budget of several million dollars is often needed, but not required. The further west you go, the less expensive lake front homes become. Although the homes are expensive, they offer good value for the money compared to other lakefront homes in the country that are within commuting distance to major cities.

Finding a perfect Lake Minnetonka home is easier to do with the help of an experienced real estate agent from the area. This is because they not only know the area, but have access to new listings and can inform interested clients immediately about new properties on the market. Being one of the first to know about a listing on the popular Lake Minnetonka gives an edge over competing home buyers and the real estate agents are also capable of negotiating the best possible price for a property. Plus they are able to give you information about the neighborhood, schools, and lake access.
