Lampshades and their safety
Lampshades will help protect you from many things that the naked bulb would not protect you from.
It is recommended by professionals that you use a lamp shade on all the lights in your room, the lamp shade has saved many people for injuries. The lamp shade is primarily in use to spread and diffuse the light which is beneath it. It is common for the light to not be spread evenly if a lamp shade were not to be placed over the light. The common lamp shade comes in its usually shape which is like a triangle, it spread the light out over a broader scale on the bottom end of the lamp shade. This is so if the person wishes to have more light under the lightshade then this will occur. I would say that most lamp shades come like this as standard, however there are many other types of lamp shades in different shapes and sizes.
It is also common for floorstanding lamps to be used. The lamp shades that are used on these are usually a bit bigger. These floorstanding lamp shades project more light across the room, because they are higher up. There are often more powerful than the traditional desk lamp shade, which is the most popular type. Many different materials are used for lamp shades, these materials range as far as glass to thick paper material, depending on the style of lamp shades and where you buy them from, will determine which material I used for the cover of it. As you can see lamp shades are often very popular and a necessity when buying a lamp, They are often subject to different decorative features and styles, These decorative features and styles can also range. I have also seen many in materials such as wood, in this case the light will only shine out of the top and bottom of the lamp shade. These types of lamp shade are much rarer and are often not used in most household, they seem to be more of a fashion feature, and are inconvenient for most homes. It is very rare that cotton and other clothing materials are used because they are more of a fire hazard to the naked bulb, precautions are taken by the manufacturers to make sure the chances of a fire are as minimal as possible.
