One of the most popular tourist spots of Malaysia, the Langkawi Island has a lot to offer to all kinds of tourists. So if you are travelling with your family for a vacation break or travelling as a lone traveller on an adventure trip, Langkawi has something to offer everyone. The excellent sights and worthwhile tourist spots make sure that your time is well spent.

Beach

If you are visiting the island to enjoy the relaxing effects of sun and sand then you should definitely pay a visit to the famous black sand beach of Langkawi. The traditional name of this beach is Pantai Pasir Hitam. The beach is known for its opaque sands that seem to glitter. This beach acts as a photographer's paradise. The beautiful sands and the perfectly serene setting makes for a perfect setting for a glamorous photo shoot.

Cable car

If you are the kind of person who wants it all then the cable car is the perfect choice for you as it combines a sense of adventure and beautiful sights to see. You can travel up to the second highest point of Langkawi. It is easy to lose oneself in the view from the top. The 20 minute cable car ride is a thrilling enough and if you are lucky you will be able to see Thailand towards the northern side and Indonesia towards the south west. You will look down even if you have a fear of heights, as no one will be ready to miss the breathtaking view of the great waterfalls and thick blankets of untouched rainforests. The whole family can enjoy and learn from this ride.

Underwater world

If you are travelling to Langkawi alone or with family, you should visit the underwater world. This treasure trove of marine life is a must see on the list of every tourist, especially if they are travelling with children. It is the largest aquarium of Malaysia and has an irresistible collection of marine life including harbour seals, sharks, penguins, giant rays and the world's largest freshwater fish known as the Amazonian arapaima. You have to get to Pantai Cenang to visit the underwater world.

Crocodile farm

The trip to the bird sanctuary will continue with a visit to the crocodile farm. The crocodile farm is set in Pantai kok. The farm has a total area of eight hectares. This farm house over thousand crocodiles. Many different species of crocodiles at different stages of growth can be seen on this farm. This is one of the main attractions of Langkawi.

Langkawi bird paradise

A short ten minute walk from Kuah will bring you to the wildlife park of Langkawi. Here you will get a chance to appreciate the beauty of the birds from over150 species. The tropical garden plays home to over 2500 birds. This five acre park houses owls, canaries, flamingos, eagles, toucans and hornbills. The other main features of the park include a 15 metre tall waterfall and an aviary. Every different species live in an environment that has been specially designed to resemble their natural habitat. The Langkawi wildlife park is fully covered and is the first of its kind in Asia.

I have been to many places all over the World, but never to Malaysia. Your article makes me want to visit the Langkawi Island!

Thank you. Langkawi is an archipelago made up of 99 islands on Malaysia’s west coast. Surrounded by turquoise sea, the interior of the main island is a mixture of picturesque paddy fields and jungle-clad hills.
