Laser Hair Regrowth

By | Jul 23, 2009 | 1 Comments | Rating: 0

Is laser hair regrowth fiction or reality? The beginnings of laser hair therapy began when, in 1964, Andre Mester discovered that a cold laser light made the hair or shaved mice grow faster. Although he didn't find out that lasers made for hair regrowth (just faster growth), he laid the foundation for the laser hair therapy that is available today.

Treatments involving lasers come in two forms: combs (of which the Laser Hair Comb is the most popular) and Laser Luce LDS 100, which you'll find in hair restoration clinics. The comb goes for about $500 and the other hood like treatment has a price, which varies from clinic to clinic. They are often used as treatments, but are they effective?

The only scientific study done about this subject concluded that laser therapy did not make for any statistically significant change in new hair follicles. Despite these conclusions, doctors and users of laser light therapy swear by its effectiveness.

People who have used the laser comb say that they cannot tell if it works because you need detailed pictures of your scalp and very precise counting to prove its effectiveness. There are many users who say that their hair is thicker or fuller, but a lot less who say that the laser product actually grew their hair back. This is not that surprising considering that some laser hair clinics use laser light therapy to make the hair thicker and fuller.

Because a laser hair regrowth treatment is not proven to work, you may very well be better off just going with the proven methods of treating hair loss. This would include Propecia, Rogaine, and a hair transplant.
