There's a new cosmetic treatment in town and its name is laser hair removal. Many people have heard about it, either from a friend or the media. If you live in the big city where people are very aware of their appearance, chances are you already know somebody who's had it done. Chances are, you want to get it done as well! I can't blame you. Who wants to spend a lifetime of plucking, threading, tweezing, waxing and bleaching your hairy body areas? Those methods produce temporary results. You need to repeat them every few weeks in order to keep yourself hair free. What a nightmare!

Thanks to laser hair removal surgery, it is now possible for the masses to get rid of their unwanted body hair permanently. This treatment cannot be undergone for pennies on the dollar just yet, but prices are dropping quickly. The laser treatment becomes cheaper and cheaper with each passing year. It is already affordable to most people, although you'd probably need to save up a little bit before you'd be able to afford it.

Laser Hair Removal Pricing

What you will have to pay for your treatment, depends on a large number of factors. Firstly, various body areas have various price ranges. Clinics can't put a fixed price on the various body areas because people's hair differs greatly in thickness and density from person to person. A performing doctor can never know up front how much work a person's body area is going to be. Therefore, these clinics have consultants that meet with you in person. They have a look at the body area that you desire to have treated. Based on there observation of the hairs you have there, you are given a laser hair removal pricing estimate for you individually.

Secondly, it makes a lot of difference whether you visit a general dermatologist who offers the treatment on the side or a laser hair removal clinic that specializes in it. The last option is the best pricewise. The clinic is more likely to have the best equipment and they are more likely to have a really good routine going. They'll be able to do the same amount of work in less time. This usually results in lower prices.

Thirdly, the length of all the laser hair removal sessions you will have determines the biggest part of the price. If you have dense hair, it goes without saying the treatment will take longer. Also, if your hair is very coarse, you will on average need more laser pulses per hair in order to truly get rid of it. This translates into longer and multiple treatments, once again racking up the total cost. The chances of getting laser hair removal side effects also increase with coarser hair.

In summary, here is an indication of the average prices you can expect to pay for the various body areas. Small body areas such as the rear, the chin, the bikini line, the underarms and the upper lip are the cheapest and can usually be done for around $150 - $300. Medium sized body areas such as the legs, the arms, the chest, the abdomen and the face can be done for around $250 - $600. The back remains the most expensive body area since it is so large. It tops at around $800 for a full single treatment.
