Body contouring by undergoing laser liposuction surgery is a new, advanced technique which removed fat from a patient’s body. It was developed in Italy and has been approved for use in the U.S.A since 2006. There risks are few and the procedure offers a shorter recovery time with less discomfort than conventional liposuction techniques. Skin is left tighter and more toned in most cases and patients are left happier and more satisfied with the results.

The major advantage of laser liposuction is the shorter time taken up by the procedure. Laser liposuction is quick and requires less recovery time than other weight loss operations. Patients are given a local anesthetic and the surgery is performed in the doctor’s office. The procedure only takes between thirty and forty five minutes. Following that, you could expect to be back on your feet within twenty-four hours.

Removing fat from areas where weight loss is hard will give you increased confidence in social situations and scars are not an issue. Only tiny, pencil line thin incisions are required. Once healed, these cuts are barely visible leaving you feeling more confident. Skin will be left firmer so you should have no qualms about wearing your bathing suit.

Only minor discomfort and pain is experienced after laser liposuction but standard, over the counter pain relievers are prescribed. The complete results aren’t seen until the swelling has subsided.

Although the risks of laser lipo are few, it should be remembered that, as with all types of surgery, there are still risks. There is no harsh suction involved so the procedure it’s self is much gentler. Most of the risks come after the surgery with the possibility of infection. Any time your body is subjected to surgery, this risk is always present.

In the aftermath of the surgery, patients are advised to watch the incisions and protect them from possible infection. Follow your plastic surgeon’s advice on cleaning and caring for healing and you will recover more quickly and infection free. This will limit the possibility of scarring and shorten the time that swelling takes to subside.

Aside from that the only risk is the possibility of being dissatisfied with the results of the surgery. Generally, recipients of this type of surgery are pleasantly surprised when they see their new shape. But it is important to be aware that liposuction can only ever be part of the solution. Exercise and a healthy diet remain essential in getting the best results from your body.

When you weigh the pros and cons of laser liposuction, it becomes clear that the benefits far outnumber the risks involved. In spite of this, you should always remember to consult your family doctor before planning any cosmetic alterations.
