Going On A Vacation At The Last Minute
Booking A Spontaneous Trip
Last second holidays can provide a real boost to your relationship with your spouse or significant other. Sure, it can be a bit stressful planning a trip at the last moment. However, it can also add a (sometimes needed) flash of spontaneity. Remember when the two of you first met and you did a lot of fun activities on the spur of the moment?
Well, planning last second holidays can help take you back to that place of newness and fun. If you are feeling bored or stuck in a rut, this is a great way to get the spark back in your relationship. Believe me, you may feel a bit stressed out during the planning phase, but once you both arrive at your destination, that stress will fall away and you’ll be able to luxuriate and relax to both of your hearts’ content.
Of course, if you are planning last second holidays for the whole family (as opposed to just the two of you), this can be a tad more complicated, but not by much. You’ will want to choose a “kid-friendly” place, obviously and booking hotels at the last moment can get a bit tricky, but it can be done.
You need to be willing to compromise (i.e., you may not be able to book the best room in the place, because it may already be taken by someone else), and in some cases (though not always), you may need to pay a bit more to compensate for booking so late in the season. But some places actually do not charge premium rates to last minute vacation bookers, so shop around a bit before booking.
One tip: If you are looking to get away at a vacation destination that is relatively close to your house, but you are having difficulty booking a place for more than one night, consider booking for a single night. This still gives you and your family two full days and a night at your destination, and it costs less than staying longer. Yet at the same time, you still get that badly needed “change of scenery” that even a brief getaway can provide for you and your family.
Remember, on a not so happy note, we are still living through a recession, which means that many more places (and sometimes places you would not even expect) have vacancies, and often at surprising times of the year. So, if you are thinking about booking last second holidays, go ahead and give it a shot.
