Lavender Body Wash and Body Creams
Lavender body wash is a great alternative to boring soaps and unscented gels to take your bathing experience from a routine to a relaxing indulgence. Bath and body products comprise a huge industry, which has a loyal consumer base, as scented body washes and lotions are mini-luxuries that can be enjoyed even during periods of economic downturn. The soothing, mild qualities of the lavender scent have made this form of body wash a time-tested classic.
For people who enjoy a beautiful scent but are wary of pouring on the perfume, lavender body wash is the perfect solution. The undertone of scent lingering after the shower will fade as the day passes, rather than invading the nostrils of every person in the general vicinity. Drugstore staples such as Suave and Dove, as well as their upscale counterparts, like Thymes and LAVANILA, all offer their own twist on this popular product.
If the scent of a lavender body wash is not enough and perfumes are still too harsh for your taste, another viable option is the scented body lotion or cream. A non-greasy liquid lotion is suitable for daytime, as it will dry quickly and be less likely to wear off on your clothing. A heavier crème is useful at night, when stronger moisturizers are appropriate. Lavender creams and Shea lotions can be found at most body shops, such as Sephora and L'Occitane, because the scent is a standard that endures longer than trendier options like Bath and Body Works' "Black Amethyst."
In addition to body, cream there is another heavier moisturizer known as body butter. Organic body butters are becoming popular as of late, as companies try to appeal to environmentally conscious consumers. Body butter is a good alternative to oil for massages, because its consistency is less messy and yet it retains strong moisturizing properties.
Heavy creams and body butters may contain ingredients that will irritate sensitive skin, such as additional chemicals and perfumes. Looking for soothing ingredients, such as Japanese sea kelp, also known as Phytessence Wakame, is a good policy. The Brazilian passion fruit extract Maracuja is also well respected for being effective yet mild.
Before using any new lotion or cream on a habitual basis, it is suggested by most dermatologists that you sample the product on a small area of the skin. Apply the lotion to a 1-inch square area on your arm, and wait 24 hours. If redness or other signs of irritation are evident, try a different product. The best place to start is with a botanical body wash, which will introduce you to the experience of scented bath products and liven up your morning routine.
