Learn to Speak Tagalog or Filipino Online

If you want to learn to speak Tagalog (also known as Filipino) then you have come to the first place. You should first identify how you learn best and begin to narrow down the programs available that best fit your personal learning style. Personally, I find that I learn best using an audio guide.

Structure Your Language Study Plan

After you have identified the material that you will be using, you will need to devise a plan to learn the language. Plan on spending a minimum of one hour each day practicing how to speak the tagalog language. One hour is not a huge time commitment, but it is absolutely essential that you get some practice everyday in order to learn the language efficiently. The majority of this time will be memorizing vocabulary, grammar, and reviewing what you’ve studied previously.

Making this time to study can be difficult, especially if you have other obligations. But if you are really serious about learning tagalog, you will need to find some way to free up an hour a day. Some suggestions for finding this time are to reduce the time spent watching television. You can even try waking up an hour earlier and spend this time studying. This will not be easy. In fact it may be ridiculously difficult, but once you develop a routine, it will become easier and easier as time goes on. I am sure that once you begin to pick up on the subtle nuances of a new language, you will find this investment in time and energy completely worthwhile.

Start Learning Tagalog

Learn to speak taglog by first memorizing the basic greetings and introductions. If the language program that you are using does not teach this material, you may need to find an alternative resource.

Simple words such as Hello, Good Morning, and Good Afternoon are very easy. You can be greeting your Filipino friends and relatives in no time.

You do not need to worry about spelling, grammar, or proper conjugation of the various verb tenses at this point. Proper grammar will come at a later stage. The most important aspect of learning a new language is to memorize as many vocabulary phrases as you can in the beginning. Try focusing on the simple phrases that are most essential to everyday life.

Once you have learned the basics and can understand what the language software speaks to you, try finding a language partner to supplement your book learning. Interaction is very critical to mastery of a foreign language. You can find on through numerous language exchange forums, or even craigslist.

Practice with Friends and Family

Learning a new language, especially if this language is speaking tagalog can be a lifelong pursuit. You may never be completely finished learning the tagalog language, but every new phrase and vocabulary you learn will improve your grasp of the language. Do not stress about meeting deadlines. Remember to have fun and use this newfound language skill with your Filipino friends and make sure you practice.
