Lemon Uses - Not Just For Lemonade!

By Edited Mar 23, 2016 0 0

Lemons are not just for lemonade!

They can be used for many things, and can save you money. Each one of these tips would cost a fair bit of money, if you purchased a product to do the same thing.

Lighten brown spots and freckles

Take the juice and place it directly on the freckles or brown spot, leave for 10 minutes or so and rinse. Lemons make a natural bleach and are safe for your skin. Compared to the price of skin lightening products, this is a pretty cheap alternative.

Lighten hair - get those highlights

Take 1/4 cup of pure juice and mix it with 3/4 cup of water. After shampooing and rinsing your hair, until it is squeaky clean, then pour this mixture on your hair, and then sit out in the sun. This will give you those natural highlights that can cost you a lot in a salon.

Nails

Take 1/4 cup of juice and mix with 3/4 cups of water, then soak your nails in this solution. Then take the lemon slice and rub on your nail. This will bleach your fingertips, especially if you have been peeling rhubarb or slicing tomatoes, or smoking, or working in the garden. Anytime your fingers are stained, or your nails, then try this tip. Your finger tips and nails will look great.

Skin

You can use pure juice to help dry up pimples and blackheads. This is a lot cheaper than the drug store, and is very helpful if you are on a budget, or in a pinch. Most people have a bottle in the fridge. If you don't, you should get one either at the store or online as above!

Moisturizer

Here is a great treat for your skin. 1 egg yolk, 2 tablespoons juice, 1 cup olive oil.

In a bowl, whisk the egg yolk, juice and olive oil together until they are rich and creamy. Massage this into your skin before your shower or bath This is really great for your feet and elbows as well. Let it sit on your skin for about 15 minutes, and then get in the shower.

Lemon Furniture Polish

This should be made up fresh each time for it to work at its best. Take 1/3 cup of pure juice plus one cup of olive oil. Combine the lemon and oil and put into a clean spray bottle. Shake well. Put some on a soft cloth and apply to the wood furniture. Then use a clean cloth and buff up and polish the wooden furniture.

This is much cheaper than the ones off the shelf, and completely natural. It is amazing what you can do with a few ingredients in your house.

You don't always have to buy the a product for each job. Whether it is for personal use or for the house. Take a good look at what you can do with lemons.

Clean your microwave

1 cup water, 3 tablespoons of the juice. Mix together in a bowl safe for the microwave. Place the bowl in the microwave, and run it for about 3 minutes. You should be able to wipe the interior of your microwave after doing this. The lemon also leaves a nice fresh smell to your microwave.
