Two Security System Reviews

Two Security System Reviews

'A persons home is their castle'. A very old saying, but never more true than in todays crime ridden world!

Your home contains basically all of the items of value you own. Everything from valuable electronics, jewellery, appliances and of course those irreplaceable mementos and family treasures. But is your home secure? Once upon a time a good lock and perhaps a faithful pooch would see you right, but I am afraid - not now.

In my opinion, (as an ex serving police officer), is that your home, or your office for that matter, needs quality home surveillance cameras. Home surveillance cameras that
are tried and trusted, and provide you and your family that necessary security edge.

With that in mind, I thought that I would provide you with two home security systems reviews. A couple of home security systems consumer reports if you like.

Both these items are priced reasonably, are top sellers on Amazon and have those features you need, while being easy to program and use.

1. A Foscam Wireless/Wired Pan & Tilt IP/Network Camera with 8 Meter Night Vision and 3.6mm Lens giving a high quality 67° Viewing Angle.

Wow that's a mouthful, but this Foscam offering deserved a proper description! It comes in at well under $100, and is well worth a look if you are after a quality home surveillance camera. Lets look at some of its features:

  • IR-Cut filter for true color video and images
  • The IR lights can be turned off manually from the software
  • Audio quality is improved, there will be no noise when speaking into the camera
  • WPA2 Encryption Supported,Light Frequency 50 / 60 Hz or outdoor
  • Added an audio input jack which can be used with an external microphone

That right there is a package that will give you a very sound security monitoring ability, without breaking the bank. When deciding on what cameras to review, I looked at
the customer comments left for both systems by folks who have bought them. Here is a selection of what purchasers thought of the Foscam: (kind of like you own customised home security systems consumer reports).

"Considering that you are paying less than $100 for a wireless IP Camera that provides PTZ, infrared night vision, motion detection, and automatic email of alarm photos,
there is very little one can criticize about this camera."

"At this price you'll be content, if not ecstatic. It works well as a security camera and baby monitor. After using it for 1 week I've bought 2 more."

"The camera works flawlessly, the picture is crystal clear, the night vision awesome.
Setting it up attached to a cable is straightforward. "

Hmm, definitely happy customers here, which mirrored my experience with this entry level unit. A great buy at under $100 on Amazon, and well worth checking out.

2. Dropcam HD Wi-Fi Wireless Video Monitoring Camera

Ok a bit of an odd name - 'Dropcam', but I really like this unit and the last thing I wanted to do with it was to drop it!

This solid looking and feeling wireless camera is packed with features making it ideal for home security as well as a very effective baby monitor as well. The included features all worked as described. Here are the main ones:

  • Peace of Mind for your home and your baby with mobile alerts, night vision, two-way audio, and offsite DVR.
  • Fast and easy setup - online and securely streaming 720p HD video in 60 seconds.
  • Talk back and Zoom in on what you see on camera with two-way audio and digital pan and zoom.
  • Dropcam DVR - Secure offsite recording. Motion detection. Mobile alerts. Video clips. Peace of mind.
  • Your video is protected using AES 256-bit encryption, the same technology as top online banks.

I was really impressed with the 720p HD video, and the AES 256-bit encryption; this made the unit in my opinion. Coming in at around $140, I felt that it was terrific value for money. Here's what some of the purchasers thought of it:

"I have to say, I am loving this Dropcam! I put it in my living room to see when the kids are home from school. The setup process was done lickety-split"

"Pleased with my choice after researching. Easy to setup. Works as advertised"

"A lot of thought went into it. Seemed like I was unboxing an Apple product ... Setup - This was a breeze. Super easy and fast, as advertised ... Build - Simple and sturdy.
Feels very high-quality "

Wow, very high praise indeed, but I must say I agree with them.
