So much is floating around about Work-Life Balance that it got me thinking about the reasons for the separation of work from life. Surely Life Balance is a better.
For me, an overall balance is more inline with who we are as a whole, so why separate work, which is a very important part of everyone's life, from Life. Is work not just one of our many roles?
Every role we have in life is part of who we are, so wouldn't it be more logical to look at Life Balance or in my case Family Life Balance as a whole which includes the work factor.
Understandably Work-Life Balance is something of a movement which has gained momentum due to the fact that people seemed to be spending more time at work than they were at home with their families or even just having time for themselves.
Overworking has a number of health issues attached to it as well, stress, lack of rest, the list goes on. These are all factors that have meant the Work-Life Balance market is thriving because everyone wants to find ways to balance things out.
Family Life Balance incorporates all aspects and roles that we have in our lives as parents. It also incorporates and promotes communication within a family unit, from parenting to nutrition. The overall balance in a family is a team balance and achieving and maintaining this balance can be an interesting challenge to say the least.
One of the main keys to any balance be it Work-Life Balance, Family Life Balance or Life Balance overall, is to ensure that we have fully defined what the term means for us. We are all unique and have unique situations and unique needs, therefore, the question to ask yourself is, "What is my ideal picture of Balance in my life.
When you have answered that one question, you will be able to take a look at where you are currently and see if there are things you can start changing now that will move you closer towards what you have defined as your own unique Life Balance.
Balance and Harmony is a personal endeavour that anyone can obtain when they understand what it will look and feel like.
