Living in Darlinghurst, Sydney, Australia
Darlinghurst is a hub of life in Sydney
and the center of a lot of the action. It's urban, hip, edgy and fashionable,
among other things, and is a great choice as a place to live if you want to
live a fast paced life.
Living in Darlinghurst is not for the feint of heart. It is Sydney's
most vibrant and busy community and, as such, it is alive with young business
professionals who work hard and play even harder. It is packed with hip bars
and clubs and is the pulse of Sydney life. Formerly a red light district, Darlinghurst has undergone a huge
transformation in recent years and is not home to designers, creative types,
youth culture, fashionistas, yuppie corporate types and the largest gay scene
in the city. It is the most cosmopolitan area in Sydney
and the best and brightest of the city flock here.
New units have raised the price of houses in an area that
was once full of standard terrace houses and art deco apartment blocks.
Darlinghurst, with the high rises and its small size, is one of the most densly
populated areas of the city.
Nightlife in Darlinghurst is lively and caters to its
residents that truly love the nightlife. Oxford Street
is a major hub packed with clubs, live music venues, gay bars, dive bars and
restaurants. Café culture here does pretty well too with lots of choice. The
area isn't adorned with much park life but they do exist among the urban areas.
Darlinghurst is centrally located so walking will get you to
where you need to be in the city center. You will also be well hooked up by
train, bus, taxi or light rail and the only problem you might have with
transportation will be finding a cab on Friday or Saturday night.
Darlinghurst is a vibrant, lively area of Sydney
and if you want to be in the center of it all and can afford it, it's the place
you want to be.
