Loans for College Students

By | 2 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

Whether you're a parent or a student currently attending or preparing to attend college, unless you are quite wealthy, it surely has come to your attention that college is very, very expensive. For most Americans, paying for college is either difficult or completely impossible. The cost of college tuition is going up year after year, and some students are having to find ways to shell out hundreds of thousands of dollars in order to afford a 4-year university. Loans for college students has become an extremely popular solution to pay for the costs of college.

College loans are available for students from all different kinds of socioeconomic backgrounds. Even international students can be eligible for student loans if they have a cosigner who is either an American citizen or a permanent resident. The two most common types of student loans are federal loans and private (personal) loans. Some federal, government loans are harder to get or be eligible for if you are from a middle class family, so private loans are typically a very common option among most college students.

If you're interested in getting a student loan, or just want to learn more about your different financial options, read on to learn more about loans for college students.

Private Student Loans vs Federal Student Loans

To get private loans for college, there are a few requirements. You need to be an American citizen or a permanent resident, and if you are an international student, as stated above, you will have to have a cosigner who is an American citizen or permanent resident. You also will need to have a good credit rating. You will not be able to qualify for a private loan if you have ever defaulted on any previous student loans, or if you have filed for bankruptcy within the last 10 years, or have any other mark against you in your credit history. Your college or university also must be eligible as well.

If you have a poor credit history or have filed for bankruptcy, you will need to get a cosigner with good credit to be eligible. The better your credit score is, or the better your cosigner's credit score is, the better the chance you have to get a low interest student loan.

Federal loans for college students vary depending on you or your parents' economic status. Students who come from a middle class home usually will not be eligible for a subsidized loan. Usually these loans are for students from lower class families or families who are living below the poverty level. It's usually in your best interest to see if you qualify for any unsubsidized loans, however, because these loans not only have a low interest rate (especially compared to private loans), they also can be deferred in the case of emergency.

Federal student loans have some limitations compared to private student loans. A private loan will usually allow you to purchase things such as a car, gas for your car, rent, et cetera, because all of these things can be considered as related to your college attendance (for example, you need a car to get to school). Federal loans do not have this same flexibility.

Summary

Deciding how to pay for college can be a very big decision. Student loans for college students can be huge financial burden if you are not financially responsible. Before you take out any loan for school, it's important that you are aware of your finances and have a plan for repayment.

If you can't donate, I suggest you should at least tell other people about it, he sound like a pretty legit guy. I donated! and if you think hes a scam you can meet him on msn or skype! it was cool, I donated to him just cause i thought he deserved it!
