I know the feeling of being unprepared for summer or being out of shape for a wedding or special event. It is enough to make one panic and reach for a quick, fad weight loss diet.

1. Motivate yourself

Losing weight quickly will require that you get and stay motivated. You can motivate yourself by writing down your top 10 reasons for wanting to lose weight and by rewarding yourself for achieving your goals.

2. Set goals

Goal setting will help you to plan how you are going to achieve fat loss. So before you start with your weight loss routine, make sure that you set some goals. Just remember that wanting to lose weight or fat is not a goal, it is a target.

3. Identify and ditch your bad habits

The best way to find out what bad habits are standing in your way is to sit down with a piece of paper/journal and think of all the bad habits that are keeping you from reaching your target.

And once you have done that, you can start working on eliminating them one bad habit at a time from biggest to smallest one.

4. Make your diet weight loss ready

Here are some pointers to make your diet geared for quick weight loss:

  • Avoid sweets and take-aways.
  • Have 6 smaller meals more often.
  • Stick to the right portion sizes.
  • Have lots of fruit and veg.
  • Try to eat as healthy and balanced as possible.
  • Try to avoid fad diets.

5. Follow a weight loss exercise plan

If you want to lose weight fast, you must start to exercise for at least 5 days a week. The best exercise for weight loss are a combination of cardio and weight training. If you don't like to weight train, Pilates is also an excellent firming exercise. Do cardio for at least 4 days a week, and toning for 2 days a week.

6. The most difficult part

Losing weight quickly might come easy for you. But it is the maintenance part that is the most difficult to do.

To make it easier, stick with your healthy eating plan and your regular exercise plan, for even after you have lost the weight.
