The recessed lights have recently become very popular because of their spectacular look and numerous shapes and designs. The world has been experiencing a massive increase in energy prices and thus the low voltage recessed lights are very essential in ensuring the much-needed conservation of energy and reduction in overall energy cost.

Features and Design of the Low Voltage Recessed Lighting

Just like other types of recessed lights, the low voltage recessed lights are embedded on a surface mostly the ceiling or on the wall. This gives it a less invasive feel and does not attract unnecessary attention onto that surface.
The trims come in highly improved designs; for instance some lights have trims with four or more finishes together with the housing.

These lights can be installed on insulated as well as on non-insulated ceilings. It is always advisable to get fixtures that are Insulation Contact (IC) rated to prevent any flammable substance from touching the hot lighting fixtures. If the IC is air tight, it makes it more efficient and conserves more energy.

Why use Low Voltage Recessed Lighting?
• The most basic benefit of this light is the reduction to electricity bills for the user. The 12 volts lights consume much lesser energy than a normal light whose voltage may go up to 50 volts.
• It’s not limiting in terms if designs so that it satisfies the tastes and preferences for as many users as possible. The shapes can be square, round, rectangular and many other shapes. For users who want unique designs that are not available in the market, it’s possible to place an order for that particular design.
• The low voltage recessed lights can be used in practically all sections of the home. Due to their overall importance of saving on energy they can ideally be erected in the bathroom vanities, living rooms, bedrooms and under the cabinet lighting.
• Theses lights also come in a range of many beautiful colors.

Forms of Square Recessed Lighting Fixtures
• The incandescent fixtures are better suited for lower ceilings and are combined with reflectors to give a better general lighting. They are also relatively less costly.
• The micro fluorescent fixtures are most suitable for higher ceilings. They are the best for energy conservation although relatively expensive
• The xenon lights do not have much light and are best suitable for under cabinet lighting.
• Halogen fixtures are for display lighting, reading and track lighting.

Conclusion
Most manufacturers have realized the need for producing ecologically friendly lighting which also improves their company images. The introduction of the low voltage recessed lighting has done more good to the environment than any conventional other lighting system.

Manufactures have made it possible for users to convert the normal lights into low voltage lights, by use of retrofits that come with transformers to reduce the standard current to as low as 12 volts. Users can easily transform their high power consuming lights to extremely lower power lights by following user instruction manuals from manufacturers.
