Extreme Luxury and Their Price Tags.

Luxury items are in demand because there is a market for them and people buy them, People that can afford them that is. Whether it’s for quality, the exclusivity or to make a statement. Regardless of the price tag, Luxury goods appeal to many people and it's always fun to see what the rich are buying. Below is a list of some very expensive items and the price tag may surprise you. 

The “Why” Yacht- $140 Million

Hermes, the French maker of the popular celebrity coveted Birkin handbags, and luxury goods, is building a revolutionary $140 million dollar luxury yacht whose length is 58 meter (190 feet).  “Nicknamed WHY 58x38, the yacht will have a 25-meter interior swimming pool, three decks and a 36-meter “beach” along the back. Solar panels covering the roof and sides of the vessel will help save at least 200 tons of diesel fuel a year, Hermes announced”. The Luxury goods company has partnered with the Monaco-based ship-builder Wally to build the “WHY” yacht. The price tag of this Luxury yacht apparently hasn’t scared people away, the yacht has received orders.

The Birkin Bag- $4,475 and up

Speaking of the Birkin bag and Luxury goods maker Hermes. The Birkin Bag happens to be one of the most expensive bags and very popular. It’s a “Statement Bag” which the price is around $4,475 and up. The Crocodile Birkin bag costs a hefty $30,000 and up. In fact, one of the most expensive bags sold at public auction, selling for $203,150 at a sale in Dallas, Texas. The bag,  named Hermes Exceptional Collection Shiny Rouge H Porosus Bag with Solid 18K White Gold & Diamond Hardware, sold on Dec. 6 to a collector who wished to remain anonymous, according to Heritage Auctions.  You can always see the Birkin Bags on the arms of celebrities in magazines, most notably is Victoria Beckham who owns the Birkin in almost every color including the Crocodile Birkins.

Luxury Watches $700,000 & up

Many of the world's most expensive watches are produced in limited quantities, and because of this, it has buyers on a waiting list and eager to have these watches. Sometimes only just a few are produced a year. Audemars Piguet  highest priced watch is the skeletonized “Grand Complication” which sells for about $700,000, and the few watches that are made are always sold quickly. Unfortunately, for the rest of people who could afford it because they have to go back on the waiting list.

The Patek Philippe Sky Moon Tourbillon 5002 P Watch - $1.5 Million

Currently, this is one of the highest priced timepieces. There are not many Patek Philippe 5002 P watches made, but they are in production and being purchased so people want them. The watch is composed of 686 parts. It is double faced with celestial movements. It has a sapphire crystal and a black crocodile leather band.

ReVive Face Cream - $600 and up

RéVive, a luxury skin care company in Louisville, Ky and founded by Dr. Gregory Brown, a plastic surgeon. The company's most expensive product is the Intensité Volumizing Serum, which costs $600 per ounce. It uses a molecule called keratinocyte growth factor. Dr. Gregory says it can turn over dying skin cells eight times faster than normal skin can. So many people are big fans of this small jar of wonder. Celebrity fans of this cream are Madonna and Naomi Campbell.

La Mer Skin Care - $3,000

After 12 years and 6,000 experiments by NASA aerospace physicist Dr. Max Huber, La Mer was born. Creme de La Mer has been called a "miracle skincare product" and "the most coveted creme in the world." At $135 for a 1-ounce jar or you can buy a 16.5 oz  jar for $1,650. It is one of the most expensive skin care products in the World. The most popular product in their line is “The Essence”, which often has a waiting list and costs about $3,000 for 45ml.  Celebrity fans of La Mer cream are Jennifer Lopez, Nicollette Sheridan and Meryl Streep.

Victoria secret Bra
Victoria Secret Bra - $2.5 Million

The 2011 Fantasy Treasure Bra from Victoria Secret is a diamond and gem-encrusted bra custom made for the 2011 Victoria Secret Fashion show and worn by model Miranda Kerr and made by a London Jeweler. The latest version bra, which has 142 carats of white and yellow diamonds with 3,400 hand-set stones. It can be purchased for $2.5 Million.

Bugatti Veyron Super Sports Car -  $2.4 Million

This is the most expensive and exotic car in the world. It is the fastest accelerating car reaching 0-60 in 2.5 seconds. The Bugatti Veyron cars are limited production. The last Bugatti Veyron has been ordered by a wealthy European customer, marking an end to the production run of 300 Bugatti Veyron models and its even faster brother the Veyron Super Sport.

Clive Christian's Imperial Majesty Perfume - $215,000

Clive Christians Imperial Majesty perfume cost $215,000 for 16.9 ounces. Only ten of these exclusive collectors' edition bottles were made, they're made from Baccarat crystal, an 18-carat gold collar with a five-carat, brilliant cut white diamond. The bottle is filled with Clive Christian's signature scent No.1, which has been widely marketed as the world's most expensive perfume in the Guiness book of records. If you don’t want the fancy bottle, you can opt for the same Clive Christian No.1 Perfume in a less expensive bottle for  $865.00
 for 1.6 ounces. Available for men and women. It’s a sophisticated scent created from the rarest, finest ingredients. The women's is A floral-oriental fragrance filled with sweet floral smells, with a touch of masculinity. Even the $865.00 bottle is still one of the most expensive perfumes around. This is the same perfume Katie Holmes used on her wedding day.

Gulfstream G550 Jet- $59.9 Million

A Private jet for the rich and famous jet-setters. Private jets are probably some of the most expensive toys available to man, the G550 is spacious, ultra luxurious, sleek and very fast. Of course only the very rich own them.  British Billionaire Philip Green, and Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich both own a Gulfstream G550. What more do you want? Having 2 private Jets like Roman Abramovich, he also owns a Boeing Business Jet as well, which costs about $55.5 Million.

Pot of Noodles - $43.00

The Worlds famous department store Harrods in London launched a luxury “Pot of Noodles” limited edition product. The vegetarian,friendly cup of noodle comes in a hand-flocked and gold-leafed pot. It also comes with a fork and table linen, serving for one. The Posh Noodle sells for $43.00 and proceeds went to charity. $43.00 doesn’t sound so bad compared to the other luxury items, but when compared to the cup of noodles that cost less than a $1.00, its definetly a luxury item, especially with the gold leafing.

So, I wonder, are these people 'truly happy?' Are they happier than us regular folk? These are neat little toys, being rich would be fun, and I'm not one of those people who feel 'money is evil.' However, all the money in the world can't buy 'true love' and 'true health,' for example. Cool, well-written article; I enjoyed reading it. Thanks for sharing.
