MP Da Last Don-Master Ps Most Successful Album

Rapping is the root of Master P's success; many people currently know him as a business man and entrepreneur, but his entrance into the rap industry was through rapping his heart out. Although he had released many LPs and albums during his rapping career, MP Da Last Don has been his most successful yet. Master P had released many other albums that were not as successful this one prior to its release; albums such as Ice Cream Man and Ghetto D were quite successful, but could not compete with the sales of MP Da Last Don. Some people think that it was luck that allowed this album to be much more successful than the others; however, I feel that Master P used the not-so-successful previous albums to see what worked and what didn't work, and used that knowledge to create this album. Whatever he decided to do when creating MP Da Last Don clearly worked, because it shattered the records that his prior albums had set, and proved to be his most successful album thus far.

Impact On His Career

The release of MP Da Last Don had a great impact on Master P's career in many positive ways. Although his album entitled Ice Cream Man was the first to be certified platinum, this was only the beginning of a much bigger success for this rapper. MP Da Last Don managed to get certified platinum 4 times! Nonetheless, knowing how much of a business man Master P was, he had much bigger plans for this album than simply allowing the fans to hear his rap. He used the popularity and fame that was gained from this album, and the talent that was exemplified through it, and turned it into a whole new entrepreneurial adventure. The success of MP Da Last Don opened up a gateway that allowed Master P to make the connections and open the entire No Limit enterprise; consisting of No Limit Records, Clothing, Films, and Sports Management. The album was definitely successful within itself; however, it was only the beginning of Master P's path to success and a large net worth.

Album Sales

This album generated such a hype that within the first 7 days of its release it managed to have sold almost 500,000 copies! Aside from the first week's sales, it continued to sell 4 million copies, making MP Da Last Don Master P's bestselling album thus far. The fact that this album contained 2 discs, made it slightly more expensive than its single disc siblings; furthermore, Master P, being a business man, marketed it in a way that still allowed it to be certified platinum 4 times, which rarely happens with dual discs in the rap industry due to their increased cost. MP Da Last Don was by far Master P's bestselling album that he had ever released, and opened many doors for more business opportunities.

Hit Singles

The ratio of hit singles compared to the total amount of songs that were included on the album is nothing to boast about; 3 hit singles out of 29 total songs is just over 10 percent. However, the hit singles that were included on Master P's MP Da Last Don album were of greet calibre; they did not only peak the charts of the billboard top 100 list, but also the hip hop and rap specific charts. It would have been nice to have some more hit singles being included on the album; however, Master P did an unbelievable job when creating MP Da Last Don, so asking for more would be asking for too much. The hit singles that are included in the album were Goodbye To My Homie, Make Em Say Ugh Pt.2, and Hot Boys And Girls. Although the list of hit singles is not extremely long compared to the total amount of songs that were included on the album, these high-calibre 3 hit singles were equivalent to 5 or 6 hit singles of regular calibre.
