There are movies that incorporate magic into the real world, have created its own world, are paired with animation and others that are strictly fantasy movies. The most recent magic movies that have something for everyone to enjoy. Below are only a few of the many magic movie phenomenons that have captivated the minds of adults and children for decades.

One cannot have a list of movies with magic without mentioning all of the Harry Potter movies. The world of harry Potter is all about magic and how magic can interact with the real world. These movies about magic have all been very popular and as the series has progressed the films have all gotten much darker in tone. If you take the Harry Potter movies for themselves and don't worry about inconsistencies with the book you can enjoy some great entertaining movies.

The Neverending Stories are a trilogy of movies that take place in the land of Fantastica. In the first movie this land is being destroyed by the Nothing. There are actually some great parallels and foreshadowing in this movie as the Nothing is the lack of imagination that people have in the real world. In this movie a young warrior is set the task to find the cure to save Fantastica.

A great movie that is particularly entertaining for children is Bed Knobs and Broomsticks. In this movie a good witch has adventures with three orphans on a magical flying bed. They travel underwater and have plenty of exciting escapades with many animated creatures and animals. This magic movie is not completely light hearted as it does occur during the Second World War and the Nazi's do invade the island.

The Chronicles of Narnia is another movie that has its own magical world besides the real world. The most magical creature of them all is the lion Aslan. The four children of Eve have managed to find Narnia through a wardrobe and when they arrive they must free the land of Narnia from the clutches of the white witch. There is something for everyone in this movie as there is comedy, battles, beautiful scenery, many creatures and much more.

The Lord of the Rings movies are all completely fantasy and are a beautiful and detailed world that is full of magic. The one ring itself is magic, the elves have magic, there are wizards, dwarves, magical creatures and ghosts. These movies are fantastic in their detail and should not be missed. Just realize that they are very long and a full viewing of the trilogy continuously can take all day.

A few other magical movies that should not be missed include the animated the Sword and the Stone from Disney. It features a fantastic battle between the wizard Merlin and a Witch. For those young girls Ella enchanted should not be missed as there are many little hidden jokes throughout the movie.

Enchanted itself has magical beings entering the real world of New York and Mary Poppins uses plenty of magic as a nanny.
