How often have we been told that its important to pay credit card debt off each month without leaving debt to build up gradually over the year?

Unfortunately, it seems like many of us are unwilling or unable to live our lives in such a way as this would be possible. We are guilty of using plastic for luxuries we cannot afford feeling that money spent on a card isn't really money at all.

With this type of action going all over the world its unsurprising that such a large percentage of people find themselves in a deep financial crisis with little hope of recovery. It can get to the stage where we can only afford to pay the minimum on our large credit card statement each month meaning we'll be paying off our debts for the rest of our lives.

The unfortunate way we use credit cards is leading our society to a place where severe debt problems are becoming more commonplace by the day. To find a solution we need to rethink our whole relationship with easily available credit.

Realize that these credit card companies aren't in business to make your life as easy as possible, although they will promote their product as if this is the case. The survive by making as much money as possible from their customers, which means they are quite happy for you to get into crippling debt as long as you can pay them a little back each month.

Knowing this, you must ensure you use credit cards in a responsible manner rather than letting the cards take control, which means you have to learn to pay credit card debt off each month, thereby eliminating the high interest charges that are incurred on credit card debt.

Careful, proper use of a credit card has the potential to make your life easier but you need to be in control of your spending. Use your card in times when it is genuinely useful rather then just to buy things which you know you really can't afford.

Always keep in mind that buying something on a card with no intention of paying it off in full when the statement arrives on the doorstep is a recipe for disaster. If you find yourself with a mountain of credit card debt which you are unable to pay off you might want to consider a consolidation loan to give you one, easy to manage payment each month at a lower interest rate.
