Make Money Online with Flipping Domains

By | 0 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

You may have seen shows like Flipping Out or Flip that House where real estate gurus buy old, rundown homes and flip them to make a quick buck. Flipping Domains is like that but with less risk, less investment capital, but usually higher percentage returns than real estate flipping.

But there is one trick that most people don't know about when buying domains and that is "why run the race, when you can go straight to the finish line." You might be asking now, what am I talking about.

It is actually quite simple. Instead of buying a new domain and making it popular, which usually takes years and a lot of effort, you can buy an expired domain which already has page rank, links and gets traffic.

Everyday 25,000 domains expire, and some are quite valuable. Some expired domains have PR north of 5 and have thousands of backlines pointing back.

You can find expired domains at http://www.justdropped.com/ or you can use services like Register Compass.

Look for domains with a combination of good characterizes. Such as a good domain name (something that people can remember, not random number), as much backlinks as possible, and a PR larger than 2. Also try to register a domain based on a subject. Like www.pcdecoder.com. There is a reason for that, which I will explain later.

After you decide which domain to register, the trickiest part is over. But there are a couple of steps you have to do before you can sell and profit.

Besides registering a domain you will also need to get a hosting account. A good and cheap hosting is GoDaddy. Their service is reliable, and is very easy to use and configure to your needs.

Now this is where you will have to create a website based on your domain. If you chose a domain related to computers, base the website on computers, if your domain is related to health, base your website on health and so on and so on.

The reason for creating a live website is twofold. Firstly you can track website traffic with Google analytics to show your future buyer, and this will also increase the price you can ask for because you're selling a package instead of just the domain.

If you don't know HTML, you can get a template or hire someone to do it for you. The better the website looks, the more you will get. Besides designing the website you will need to write or buy content about your subject and post it on your website. This makes it look like a real website and not just a flipping job.

You can get a writer to write a pretty good article for 5 dollars per 400 words. Two good sites I uses to find writers are www.textbroker.com and www.getafreelancer.com.

Besides posting it on the website you should also post the content on article directories to gain traffic and get more backlinks. You should also use Social Bookmaking sites like Digg, and Stumbleupon to gain authority and create buzz for your website. You should also use classified ads to promote your website, one popular one is www.usfreeads.com.

After you finish your website and put it online, wait and see how much traffic you get. You may also want to promote your website on forums related to your website. The more links and buzz you create the better.

When a month passes or so and you get a sense of how much traffic your site gets, you can start selling your site on forums like http://forums.digitalpoint.com/ or http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/. Do research on the amount of money other people are getting for a website like your before posting your ad.

This process of flipping domains is a good way to make money. Your investment will be somewhere in between 50 and 100 dollars. But if you do everything correctly you can easily make 200 to 500 dollars if your site gets any traffic and over 1000 dollars if you receive a steady amount of 50 to 100 unique visits per day.
