By | Jan 27, 2011 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

Do you ever get frustrated because you aren't making enough money at your job? Do you wish you could find a way to make extra cash without getting a second job or working overtime? If you have a computer with an internet connection and you are a decent writer, you can make extra cash in your spare time.

You don't have to be a spectacular writer in order to make money writing articles for online websites, but there are two writing skills that can help increase the amount of money you make and help you learn how to make quick money on a regular basis, or just when you need it. If you're a very good writer, you can charge more per word. Over time, you can develop your skills and portfolio to earn more. Second, if you are a fast writer, you can write more in a shorter period of time and therefore earn more. If you can combine both skills, the sky is the limit whether you're trying to earn extra money or you plan to make it a full time career.

There are several avenues to sell your articles. Some sites like Associated Content or Helium will allow you to post your articles on their site and get a small commission on advertising. The more people see your site, the better. Infobarrel and Hubpages are two sites that will allow you to post your articles and share part of the advertising revenue directly.

If you're more interested in getting paid up front for your writing, there are other ways to do this. First, check out a content mill such as Textbroker or the Content Authority. You will find a wide variety of categories where you can choose articles from that you want to write. For example, there may be a gardening article posted in the gardening section about growing herbs. If you know a lot of herbs, you can choose to write the article. When you're finished, the buyer will look it over and approve it and you'll get paid.

If you want to maximize your earnings, you should work with clients directly. With sites above, you either only get a small amount of earnings, or the website you're working with takes a commission cut out of your earnings. Look for writing job sites and find jobs to write for. Look for clients that are looking for ongoing work. It's easier to keep clients than constantly look for new ones. This doesn't mean you shouldn't also take one time assignments. These are great for your portfolio. Build up your skills and charge more as you get better to make more money in the future.
