Make a Half Fold Card with Microsoft Word

A half-page card is one of the least complicated cards to make using word processing software and a printer. You can use fancy greeting card paper, card stock or regular paper to create the card. To make a half-page card, simply download a template for the card and decorate in Microsoft Word. You can then print out the card and give it to the desired recipient. Making cards like this can save money on invitations, thank you cards and other stationary. Use the same directions for PC computers or Mac computers. Microsoft Word works the same on both systems. Download templates online, or skip the template and make the card all on your own. If you make your own card, it may take longer, but the results will be unique.

Steps

Download a greeting card template online. Make sure you download a half page card template. Open Microsoft Word. Select “Page setup” from the “File” menu. Set the “Pages” option to read “2 pages per sheet.”

Open this template in Microsoft Word. Enter in the desired text onto each of the pages. Save the file in case an error occurs. Make two separate files for the information you want on the outside of the card and the information you want on the inside of the card.

Add clipart, word art or other special colors and effects to the card as desired for decoration.

Print the inside information onto a piece of cardstock or other paper. Print a test page first, so that when you use the real paper you will not make any alignment or other printing mistakes.

Flip the paper over so that the next file will print on the back of the paper. Print the second file for the outside of the card. Make sure the text and images face the same way when you open and close the card.

When you are satisfied with the position and alignment of the text, repeat the printing process onto the final paper, such as cardstock or high-quality linen paper.

Fold the paper in half widthwise to create the card. Add other embellishments as desired, such as stickers, 3D flowers or ribbon, lace, staples, brads, additional pieces of paper and other details.

Fit the paper into a large envelope. A half-fold card will require a larger envelope, which will cost extra postage at the post office. Purchase the proper amount of postage to ensure your delivery arrives at the correct destination without problems.
