Make a Rueben Loaf for Your Next Holiday Party

By Edited Aug 24, 2016 0 0

This is a good recipe for those cold winter days and it goes well with soup.

Things You Will Need

This is a Reuben Loaf. You will need one frozen loaf of bread dough and let thaw and rise. One regular can or jar of sauerkraut well drained, one can of corned beef and an eight ounce or more to suit taste of swiss cheese. One baking stone or cookie sheet. Pre-heat oven 350 degrees.

Step 1

rising bread dough

Roll the bread dough out long. Don't roll it out too thin, you don't want hole in it. If you do get holes just pinch the dough together.

Step 2

swiss cheese
Layer in cheese the length of loaf of bread swiss cheese is the traditional cheese in a Rueben, however, you could mix it up.

Step 3

Add in the corned beef. I use the kind in a can. A variation is sliced corned beef which will also.

Step 4

Then layer on the sauerkraut.

Step 5

Fold up and pinch to seal the dough. Flip so seam side is down. Put in pre-heated oven and bake at 350 until loaf is brown

Tips & Warnings

If you do not get a good seal, juices leak out and make a mess. I line the pan with foil - not a fan of doing the dishes.
