Making Baby's First Birthday Party the Best it Can Be
A baby's first bithday is a special time for parents, family and friends. It is a chance to celebrate the milestones accomplished during the first year and look ahead to a bright future. To highlight this special event, many parents throw a fist birthday party. A baby's first birthday party can consist of a variety of events, themes, guests, and locations, but here are a few tips to help make your baby's first birthday party the best it can be.
Plan the party during nap friendly hours. If your baby takes a short morning nap followed by a long afternoon nap, consider scheduling the party either between naps or at the end of the day. A tired and cranky baby can spoil the fun of a first birthday party--especially when the baby is the guest of honor! It is also a good idea to plan a quiet day at home before the party starts so that your baby does not begin the party in an overly stimulated state.
Provide age appropriate games and activities for your guests. If there will be other babies and children at the first birthday party, consider their interests and plan accordingly. For example, a 6 year old boy is going to get bored very quickly and beg his parents to leave if there are not crafts or games for him to play. If there are other babies on the guest list, consider setting up an inflatable ball pit. Most babies love to play in a ball pit, and there can be multiple babies in the pit at the same time. This also solves the problem of needing toys for every single baby to prevent jealousy.
Additionally, be sure to offer food that is age appropriate as well. Provide baby and toddler snacks and juice, or classic favorites for older kids such as pizza and ice cream. For adults, you can set out a tray of chips and dip or your favorite finger foods.
No matter where you are planning your baby's first birthday party, you should always keep in mind the needs and wants of your guests. As long as everyone is fed and entertained, you are on the right track for a great first birthday party!
