Making money online using video footage

By Edited Jul 8, 2016 1 1

Creating movie clips to generate some online income

In the past the easiest, and preferred way to generate some online income has been through drafting written articles, which were simply sold for one off payments or monetised with advertisements and affiliate links. Writing articles is still a good way to earn some additional cash online, however there is something that is hot on its heels and looks like it will overtake it in the future. This way of generating online income is using video footage and uploading it to sites like youtube.

Historically, you needed a video camera to record video footage. Video cameras were large, cumbersome and expensive, which made them impractical for having them on you at all times. Technology has taken a great leap forward and there are loads of devices you can use to capture video footage. Gadgets like mini video cameras, pocket camcorders and even cell phones can be used to capture some video footage and since these gadgets are small and relatively cheap, they are very popular. The knock on effect is that this has seen an increase in the amount of video footage being uploaded across various websites.

Arguably, the largest and most well known site is the Google owned youtube. It is reported that twenty four hours of video footage is uploaded to Youtube every sixty seconds, and that number is only going to increase in the future as more and more people upload video footage in order to
try and generate some extra money.

A picture says a thousand words and a short video clip says thousands more. Capturing video footage is fun, easy to do and there is the opportunity to record several clips very easily in a short space of time. The earnings potential is huge however it does take a lot of luck to get your video
clips viewed.

In order to be really successful with video media you need to know how to create viral Youtube video clips. Viral content is content that generates a lot of interest and receives a lot of traffic in a very short space of time. More traffic ultimately means more clicks and hence revenue for you.

The problem is how do we get out video content to go viral? Looking at Youtube’s stats there are millions of clips and hours of video footage therefore there is a lot of competition and it is all too easy for your video to get lost in the ether never to be seen. You can create the funniest, cleverest, wittiest or cutest clip of all time but that doesn’t mean it is going to be seen.

Filming video clips

In order to get your video clips seen you are going to need to spread the word and shout about them. If you have a blog write a post an include a link or two. If you write on revenue sharing sites write about the clip and include a link. Book mark the link in some book marking sites, share the link on social networking sites like Twitter and Face Book etc. The more you promote your clip the greater the chances it will be seen and, hopefully, shared. When promoting your clips it is important not to spam.

Looking at current trends, video clips look to be the way forward in earning money online. So what are you waiting for? grab yourself a pocket camcorder

, which can be picked up for little money, and get out there and have a go at playing Steven Spielberg.
