Despite our failure to see Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather fight this year, we are still wondering who could have won the biggest match in boxing history. Even if both boxing champions are of different division and rankings, who do you think will win this anticipated fight?
Emmanuel Dapidran "Manny" Pacquiao is a 31 year old Filipino professional boxer with a record of 52-3-2, 38 KOs. He is a welterweight and junior middleweight titlist; and named by the Boxing Writers Association of America, "Fighter of the Decade." As of November 13 this year 2010, Pacquiao is the only fighter who earned 8 titles in different boxing weight divisions.
If you bet Manny Pacquiao, I don't blame you. Everyone knows what kind of damage this boxer can inflict to his opponents once he punches. But what's amazing about this boxer from Kibawe, Bukidnon, Philippines is that he can put down great fighters who are taller and even heavier than him. So even those with better physical advantage, Manny still manages to win.
On the other hand Floyd Mayweather Jr., a 33 year old boxer from Grand Rapids, Michigan USA; inherited and even surpassed his father Mayweather Sr.'s boxing career under welterweight division.
Mayweather Jr. has a boxing record of 41-0, 25 KOs. In his 14 years of professional boxing career, he has already won in 5 different weight classes divisions, 6 world boxing championships.
In spite of the negative accusations and lawsuits filed against Mayweather Jr., most people still believe that this fighter can still put it together and face his great competitor. To those who bet on Mayweather Jr., I see your point; since he has never been seriously wounded in his past or even previous fights. Also, his aggressiveness makes it as much as exciting to watch as Pacquiao.
There's a number of debate lately who is the best pound-for-pound fighter. Some say it is still and always will be Floyd Mayweather Jr. And to others, Manny Pacquiao has proved himself to be the new best fighter in the boxing league.
They say this match will be the biggest payday any boxers can ever have in his career. But I hope it will not be too soon to see these two great boxers fight it off in the arena while they are still young. It is really intriguing knowing that Pacquiao has never fought African-American and Mayweather wanting to keep his boxing fame of never been seriously hurt inside the ring. I guess time will tell when these two great boxing warriors put an end to our desire to see a great and exciting fight in the history of boxing.
