Recently, manuka honey has become exposed and is recognized for its numerous health benefits. If you are someone who is interested in being as healthy as possible, this is probably the best superfood you can choose. In fact, it's been touted as the best honey out of all of them. Today we'll look at its benefits, how to use it, and where you can find it. The reason why it's so special is because itcontains unique, antibacterial, antioxidant properties which may not be present in other types of honey.

1) Beauty

One of the more popular ways to use manuka honey is for cosmetic purposes. It may not seem like it, but it can be used for both hair and skin, which is incredible.

For skin, it can be used to reduce acne, an effect that I've found very useful. Essentially, acne is a form of inflammation, which is caused by a number of reasons. This honey can decrease inflammation by drawing out the bacteria which causes it. Because of its powerful antibacterial properties it can clear up your skin of the harmful bacteria which is probably causing the acne in the first place. It also can moisturize your skin and prevent future breakouts. Moisturizing your skin is key to preventing future breakouts. It also decreases age marks and wrinkles. Overall, it is wonderful for your skin and has amazing uses.

Another thing that I have found is that it decreases the redness of marks after your acne has healed. People who suffer from acne are all familiar with this- the aftermath of the war. You want to get rid of it as soon as possible, and I found that it helped me greatly with healing it. I also found that by applying it daily, it made me less prone to getting another breakout.

So how do you use it? First, rub the honey on your skin where it's affected. Then, leave it there for around 10-15 minutes. Finally, wash it off as you would a normal cleanser. This is probably the easiest way to use it for your skin.

Next, it can be used for your hair. If your hair is easily damaged, it can prevent split end and heal your hair. It can help regrow the hair that might be thinning out and also can give it more volume. Finally it prevents frizziness and makes your hair a lot smoother.

One easy way to use your honey is to mix it in with your normal conditioner. Just a table spoon for your entire conditoner would be great. Another thing you can use is the L'anza Conditioner , which contains manuka honey.

2) Medicinal

One of the most unique properties of manuka honey is its antibacterial qualities- it contains high levels of methylglyoxal, which is antibacterial. In fact, over 200 times the amount that normal honey contains. This means it can be used for healing wounds and preventing scars.

First, it is used for healing burns. In fact, even medical professionals have begun to use it because of its almost miraculous healing properties. First, the antiseptic properties keep it from getting infected. Then, it speeds up the healing. Because it is perfectly natural and safe, why not give it a shot next time you get a burn?

It is also useful for most wounds because it will stop it from getting infected. I strongly recommend it. It also makes you heal a lot more rapidly then normal, which is greatly useful.

3) Health as a Food

It's obvious that honey can be eaten, and what's so great about manuka honey specifically? First, it is chock-full of antioxidants, which prevents cancer. It completely slows oxidation in its tracks. Even just one spoonful a day of this miracuolous food can go a long way. It tastes wonderful but I warn you that you, ideally, should eat it raw, or uncooked to get as many of its benefits as possible.

4) What to Look For

When looking for Manuka Honey, you want to look for a few characteristics that ensure its quality.

  • a UMF of at least 15
  • is packed in New Zealand
  • is active

To make it as easy as possible, I've found that this honey has all the characteristics that I just mentioned above.

Well that's about it! This honey is probably the healthiest out there, and I strongly recommend it.
