Marketing Male Girdles to Men

By | 0 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

Society has often associated girdles with women's underwear but here's a newsflash: there's a growing demand for girdles made for men too. Obviously, the term girdle has been dropped from the marketing strategy and replaced with more palatable sounding buzz words for guys: support boxers, compression shorts or body shapewear underwear. However, it pretty much amounts to the same trick that women have been pulling all these years; it's a method to slim the body.

Slimming underwear for men caters to the newfound movement of men caring more about their appearance. Finally, men are not ashamed to say that they want to look good too. Before, it was considered vain to spend as much time as women getting ready to go out. Now, call it equal rights but men are demanding their time in front of the mirror as well. Thanks to people like David Beckham, we have a flood of men who refer to themselves as metrosexuals: men highly interested in their looks and this leads to a brand new market.

Of course, fashion experts always take note of how much they can push the envelope and more underwear companies have fashioned these girdles for men. Or excuse me, compression underwear for men. If there is an untapped market, you better believe someone will exploit it. And what better market is there than chubby men who want to have a taste of what it is like to have an athletic body? With a compression shirt and support shorts, those athletically disinclined will finally achieve a body they have always wanted - and without breaking a sweat at the gym. There is no doubt that slimming underwear give men confidence they might otherwise lack. It literally makes you stand up straighter because it improves the posture of the back all the while supporting it too. The added benefit is that it also reduces the amount of food you would otherwise eat. The compression padding in these types of body shaping underwear not only serves to tighten around the waist thereby shaving off inches, but it also is a reminder not to indulge too much in front of the table.

For a lot of ordinary men, compression body shirts and underwear is just the answer they have been looking for in order to look slimmer. It is a welcome change from the boxers and briefs that don't do anything for their bodies. It was high time that men demanded what women wore underneath their clothes - however, just don't mention the world girdle.
