Marriage Intimacy Problems: Tips for Fixing and Maintaining Intimacy in Marriage

By Edited May 8, 2015 0 0

A lot of couples, especially new ones, get married under the belief that they would be spending the entirety of their lives together in one happy union. Now, while this promise rings true for many marriages, it is not always the same pretty picture for others. After a while, problems arise and certain things happen that create cracks in that once stable relationship. Among the most common problems would be intimacy in marriage. Fortunately, there are certain things that you can do to help build intimacy and maintain it throughout your marriage. While these are very easy to do, you would need to be completely focused in making things work if you wish to be really successful. After all, it takes two to tango. Keep this in mind. If your partner is not willing to go through the process just yet, do not force them. Let things take their natural course and when the right time comes then you can begin working on rekindling the passion that you had before.

So, to help you out, here are a few tips that should help with your marriage intimacy problems.

Always Have Honest Communication With Each Other

Most times, in an effort to please the other, people tend to mask their true feelings. This is where things begin to get a tad bit rocky. Since you are in a marriage, you need to be completely comfortable with talking to each other about absolutely anything without having to feel awkward afterwards. This, of course, includes intimate discussions. After all, you both need to feel connected with each other.

Try Counseling

If you or your partner has trouble when it comes to opening up about certain subjects or if being intimate makes them feel uncomfortable then counseling should help. A specialist would be able to walk you through the importance of intimacy in marriage. This is especially true in the case of newly married couples who are also looking to start a family soon.

Be Spontaneous

Older couples tend to fall into a kind of routine which takes out the spontaneity that they had before. Sometimes, this becomes a major reason as to why intimacy fades. Why not bring back the same unpredictability that you had before. Take an unplanned vacation. Change up your routine and make more time for each other. The more time you spend with your partner, the more you’ll get to know each other. After all, when was the last time you had a real date and talked about your relationship? Marriage shouldn’t change anything. Instead, it should only help foster the passion that you already had for each other. This is how you build and fix marriage intimacy problems.

Intimacy issues are a leading cause for divorce, but it doesn’t have to go that way. Surely, you wouldn’t want to end your marriage just because you or your partner are not capable of being intimate. If you really want things to work, there are many different solutions that you can try. Yes, the whole process can be extremely challenging but the hard work will be well worth it. After all, if you believe that your marriage is worth fighting for then you’ll do just about anything, right? So get on with it and start fixing your marriage intimacy problems.
