Marvel Comics
Marvel Comics is an American comic book company that was originally formed in 1939 and was known as ‘Timely Publications’. Timely Publications became known as Atlas Comics in the 1950’s and later became Marvel Comics in the early 1960s. Marvel has since become one of the largest American comic book companies producing comics based on some of the most famous characters on the planet. Some of Marvel’s characters include Spider-man, The Fantastic Four, The Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America, The X-Men, The Punisher, Ghost Rider and many more.
It is a miracle that Marvel Comics exists today as they went bankrupt in 1996 after taking the company public in 1991. Marvel Comics has received a huge boost in the new millennium with many of their characters finding space on the big screen in movie theatres. Spider-man, Blade, X-Men, The Fantastic Four, Daredevil, Elektra, Ghost Rider, The Hulk and The punisher have all had successful feature films since the year 2000 allowing Marvel substantial room to breathe after their stint with bankruptcy in the 1990s.
