The Blue-faced Leicester is an English longwool breed. Although the hair on the face is white, the underlying skin is dark blue. The breed is extremely popular as a crossing sire with the resulting sheep being known as 'mules'. The mules are highly valued by commercial breeders and are commonly mated back to meat breeds to produce quality lambs for market.
