Composting and mulching the lawn when mowing

This image is originally part of the article Home Composting

Mowing and mulching the lawn is a great way to compost grass clippings and grass cuttings. The mulched grass soon composts down into the soil and returns the organic matter to the earth soil in a form that is stimulating for new growth. One benefit is that it can help to loosen heavy clay soils for future planting of vegetable bed crops or beautiful flower beds. Even sandy soils will benefit from the cuttings as they are excellent for retaining moisture in the soil.
