The 'wild' crest, beady eye and striking plumage of the hoatzin adds up to a unique bird. Luckily its smell is not duplicated in images. It is not called the 'stink bird' for nothing. Natives in its environment will only eat it under extreme duress although it is sometimes hunted for its feathers.
