Metal Wall Art Types - Cheap, Large, Abstract and Contemporary

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

Metal wall art is one of the cheapest ways to decorate. Right now large pieces are really the most fashionable. You can get large metal wall art fairly inexpensively. Plus it's going to be different and less expensive than even just buying a basic large canvas.

This can really be very traditional even though it uses a very contemporary kind of material. In this case you're going to want to look for an embossed kind of design style. It can even be painted. This is especially important if each square has a pattern on it. The pattern could be the same but each square can be painted a different color. You might even be able to paint this yourself if this lacks a little bit of character. The secret is going to be to use a wash and wipe off a little of the paint so that the metal tones don't clash.

You can also really repurpose architectural elements. This is going to give you more of a shabby chic kind of look. This is a way to make it quite feminine. In this case you're going to want to go with a white painted finish. It should have a lot of scrollwork to it. You might even be able to change old ceiling tiles into magnet boards for a very vintage looking office that is still perfectly functional.

This is something that was popular a few decades ago but now can seem a little bit dated. It used to be that this had a lot of Southwest connotations to it with entire scenic cutouts. You might get these pieces and turn it into something really interesting just by spray painting it a fun hot pink or a basic black. However, you might just want to go with more contemporary wall art which is going to be very simplistic. This even just features panels of stainless steel.

You can really cut down on the price tag of this just by making it yourself. You can get this look with a lot of different materials that are going to be a lot more cost effective. In fact, this can even be a way that you bring this into a contemporary kitchen. Sometimes picking kitchen art can be a little bit difficult. In this case, you can go with a more abstract metal wall art. It's also a way to get metal wall art cheap. You can make it fit in any design or style. You will need to make sure that whenever you work with metallics you follow proper safety precautions and finish the edges off especially if it's going to be around kids. You could even just find basic metal panels and then give them a hammered finish for a look that's both contemporary and rustic at the same time.

As with any other metal, metal wall art is really usually cheaper the smaller it is. You can even find these pieces at the dollar store. However, if you want to make sure that it still makes a big impact in your room this is where painting several pieces can really come into play. You might just want to paint the same piece several times. You may be tempted to buy several different ones and this can look a little bit scattered. Instead, just hanging several metal grates above the couch can really give you a totally cohesive look. However, right now since contemporary style couches with low backs are popular make sure that you hang the art high enough that you don't hit your head on it.
