Microdermabrasion Facial

By | Aug 12, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

Microdermabrasion facial is a non-surgical procedure used to clean the skin pores and reduce the appearance of scars. It is a method that utilizes micro crystals to smooth the surface of the skin. This procedure is a new approach in treating the skin's imperfections. The process is less aggressive compared to the laser techniques. An added benefit is there is no anesthesia needed. The microdermabrasion facial procedure itself takes only thirty to forty-five minutes to produce a satisfactory result.

Unfortunately, the microdermabrasion facial is quite invasive as it involves the sandblasting of the skin using the crystals of vitamin C, aluminum oxide, and other mild abrasives. It removes the outer skin layer especially the flaking dead skin cells. It stimulates the skin to produce collagen and new cells from the deepest dermis layer. Collagen is important for the skin so that it has an even appearance and texture no matter what the skin complexion is. When used regularly, microdermabrasion treatments can prevent possible skin breakouts by cleaning the pores thoroughly.

Another method of application is when a delicate hand held device held in an angle to the skin is used to vacuum the micro-crystals which is results in well polished skin. Treatments can be done on a weekly basis. In this process, the outer layer of the skin, which is composed of keratin, is removed and vacuumed with the use of a jet spray of crystals. When the keratin layer of the skin is removed regularly, it can enhance the appearance of acne scars, brown spots, skin pigmentation, dull skin, sun damage, uneven skin tone and texture, wrinkles and fine lines. The effect of this procedure is not as tremendous as the laser method however the downtime period is much shorter. Patients can immediately go back to their routine activities and obligations afterwards though there could be some skin redness.

The best candidates for this treatment are those who are prone to acne, have small scars, blotchy skin, wrinkles, large pores, keratoses, whiteheads and excessive skin oiliness. Those whose skin has been damaged from exposure to the sun are also good candidates for this treatment. Pores get unclogged, signs of aging are reduced, collagen production is stimulated, acne is eliminated and even toning of the skin can all be achieved with microdermabrasion facial. The skin will be a lot softer, smoother, tighter and younger looking immediately after the initial session. Since the production of collagen is being stimulated by microdermabrasion treatment, the treated area will surely have a firmer skin. The effectiveness of this facial treatment is non-permanent. In order to maintain the effect of the procedure, treatments must be repeated.

This procedure is abrasive to the skin and it should not be conducted on those who have lesions that have not been diagnosed yet, active keloids, current outbreak of herpes, severe acne, unstable diabetes, warts and auto-immune system disorders. Microdermabrasion chemical peel can cause a new outbreak to clients who have a history of cold sores on the lips. They are required to take an anti viral medicine before the treatment is performed. This treatment is not also recommended to patients have been taking Accutane in the previous six months. There will be a greater risk of possible injury or scar if the treatment is done on someone who is taking this acne drug.

Of course, no talk of microdermabrasion facial would be complete without a discussion of the factors that lead to such a procedure. The skin is the largest organ of the body yet people fail to care for it until is too late. Despite the fact that the skin renews itself every seven years, this is often not enough to heal long-term damage that the skin might have sustained. Prevention is always better than the cure and the skin is not an exception. Age is hardly the only factor for the skin's decline. Failure to use sunscreen, not thoroughly removing makeup before going to bed, incessantly touching one's face can all take their toll on skin that might have otherwise remained youthful if it had been better taken care of. Take a hardcore look at what has led to your skin's decline. Such things as sleeping on one's face or improper pimple popping can cause creases and scars. Also the most important skincare factor is to drink lots of water. Dehydration can cause the worst damage for the simple fact that a body that isn't hydrated cannot properly sustain and rebuild the collagen needed to keep skin youthful and buoyant. The microdermabrasion machine can help you, but it is important to remember that it requires a series of sessions to treat some severe skin abnormalities like scars from acne and darker skin pigmentation. Though microdermabrasion facial reduces superficial skin flaws, it must not be considered as a cure to skin that has been damaged tremendously. In other words, you can get good results with microdermabrasion facial. Acne scars may not be improved too much though.
