Microwave Cart With Storage

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

A microwave cart be a little bit of a cheesy design element. However, if you are lacking a lot of counter top space it can also be very functional. Here are a few ways that you can really upgrade the typical microwave cart, even though it can cost you a little bit more money.

For smaller kitchens you want to make this look really sleek. A great way to do this is to go with more of a stainless steel and maple kind of design style. This can also be one of your smaller and least expensive versions so then it's really going to fade into the background.

You can also really look for a microwave cart with a lot of storage. In this case again, you might want to go with a Hutch kind of design style. This can be a taller piece with a lot of shelves on top of it for cookbook storage so that the microwave really isn't going to be the focal point. In this case, you may just want to go with more of a hardwood design style because then you can sand it down and then paint it. This can be something that works seamlessly with your cabinetry. It can even be a modern take on a china cabinet. In this case, you can really just use a lot of the pine or painted country finishes that are popular such as red or a blue gray tone.

The right microwave cart is really going to add to the overall aesthetic of your room. A great way to do this is to spend a little bit more money and go with more of a cherry wood tone. You can even have a granite or marble top on it. It can even really mimic a kitchen island if it's a little bit larger. This is perfect if you just have basic laminate countertops that are in perfectly good condition but you want more of a high end work surface. This might just be a material that you really love that you want to have in your room but you feel guilty spending thousands of dollars on it. One of these pieces might just cost a few hundred dollars and still allows you to get the natural material that you truly love and it can be in the same color palette as your countertops to make them instantly feel a little bit more updated as well.

One thing that you might want to do is just skip the basic laminate or oak kind of design styles that are so popular and so inexpensive. Instead you want to really find pieces that are going to coordinate with your cabinetry. This could even be a mission design style with some basic slatwork. This doesn't have to be the focal point of your entire kitchen. However it should still really relate to it in some ways just so that it doesn't stand out too much. The one way that you can get around this is just to store your microwave cart in your pantry.
