There are many millionaires that give money to help. Some are quite famous, while others prefer to live a life a bit more secluded. Some billionaires have been known to offer financial assistance to those in need, most notably charitable organizations. In fact, since so many of the famous people are also wealthy, they often offer assistance to these organizations for tax breaks, publicity, and for some a simple willingness to assist others. Let's take a look at some of the millionaires that give money to help out others. Some of the names on the list may surprise you.

Oprah Winfrey:


 

She's not a millionaire that gives money to help, she's a billionaire. According to Forbes, Oprah donated over $52 million in 2005 alone. Much of the assistance was spread out over various charities. In addition to giving a helping hand to organizations in need, Oprah can often be seen on her TV show, where this millionaire gives money to help guests and audience members on her show. Her humanitarian efforts cannot be ignored. She is one of the most generous people out there leading the way to others to follow in her path. You can write a letter to the wealthy and ask for cash.

Ellen DeGeneres:


 

Oprah isn't the only famous millionaire that gives money to help those in financial need. The host of the popular daytime talk show, "Ellen" has been known to support several organizations, including the Red Cross. In addition, she has given many items out to those in need on her talk show. She is one of the most famous millionaires that give money to help. Ms. DeGeneres, like many other famous people that offer assistance, does much of it privately, away from the cameras.

Angelina Jolie:


 

No list of famous millionaires that give money to help would be complete without mentioning Angelina Jolie. She has devoted a lot of funds and time to various organizations, focusing mainly on those in various countries throughout Africa. She has offered assistance to those in the most dire need with no real means to provide for themselves. This is truly worthwhile humanitarian work that should be used as a positive example to follow. Millionaires that give money to help others often do so for the love of others and not publicity.

Bruce Springsteen:


 

Mr. Springsteen donates funds to food pantries in cities he tours in. In addition, he often asks the fans going to his concerts to help out as well. His donations, and those raised by his fans, have helped to feed many hungry people throughout the nation. This is something that it seems few are willing to do in some cases. It's nice to see those that are more than willing to offer some forms of assistance where it's needed. Millionaires that give money to help can often use their voices and stature to get others to lend a helping hand as well. You can write to the rich and famous and ask for assistance for your organization.

Sandra Bullock:


 

This famous millionaire that gives money to help deserves some recognition. In fact, she recently got some when she was honored for her efforts of the Katrina Charity. Ms. Bullock donated funds to rebuild a school devastated by the floods in 2005 and was inducted into the school's hall of fame. This is one of the great examples of millionaires that give money to help out those that need it. Ms. Bullock deserved the special recognition she was given for her work. She assisted a school in getting back up and running, so children could learn.

Lance Armstrong:


 

Lance Armstrong is one of the many millionaires that give money to help. He is a famous athlete, which tends to overshadow the great work he does for several cancer organizations. He is truly a leader on and off the bike, and it shows with his efforts to find better cures and treatments for this deadly disease. Thanks Mr. Armstrong, you are one of the many famous millionaires that give money to help.

Charles Woodson:


 

The Green Bay Packer great is one of the many millionaires that give money to help. Woodson recently donated $2 million dollars to Mott Children's Hospital. This sizable sum can be put into perspective when you consider that he makes about $6 million per year. This is one third of his annual salary for the year. I help out local organizations a lot, but I have never reached one third of my annual salary. Special thanks to Mr. Woodson as one of the many millionaires that give money to help out others. There are several other millionaires that give money to help out others in the NFL. They deserve some form of special recognition for their efforts.

Other professional athletes:


 

Many of the millionaires that give money to help others are professional athletes that decide, I want to hand out cash. Many do so without the need for publicity. For example, the NFL pushes their ties with the United Way in the faces of those watching the games. What you don't see, are the players there that support the programs without the need for special recognition. Athletes are some of the best examples of millionaires that give money to help for the right reasons. Many professional athletes start up their own foundations to offer assistance to others. Regardless of the sport, there's a good chance several of the athletes have their own foundations to assist others in need. Many millionaires that give money to help others do it in anonymously, so you know it's not just a publicity stunt. It's a great example of wealthy people doing their share.

Vince McMahon:


 

Millionaires that give away money to help others, often do it in forms other than cash donations. The WWE still holds special events for the troops in Iraq. While other companies only did it while it was trendy, the WWE continues to hold the event. In addition to Mr. McMahon's work for the armed forces, he also makes sizable contributions to many organizations. Many of the wrestlers in the WWE also partake in various forms of charity, most notably, the Make a Wish Foundation. Several millionaires that give money to help out others can be watched on any WWE show.

John Cena is another one that does far more than his fair share for charities. He has done over 300 visits to children for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
