Is Minecraft the Next Big Game?

Minecraft was written my a swedish guy known as Markus Persson also known as 'Notch'.  He wrote the game for a week before releasing it on May 17, 2009 and then released with a Beta on December 20, 2010.

Minecraft is a java based game that can be best described as a sandbox or Lego type game because it's all about building blocks, so yes everything is blocky, the trees, people the landscape even the clouds are blocky. These blocks such as dirt wood stone are used to build your castle, skyscraper, mansions even roller coasters what ever you can imagine, think of the possibilities! and that's the aim of the game. The simplicity, freedom and ease of use makes Minecraft a highly addictive game, which is probably why the game sold over 2.5 million copies AND it's still in beta!

So Whats The Point of the Game?

It's all about having fun with your imagination, depending on what you want to make and how ambitious your are, the time spent constructing your creation, you will get satisfaction in the end, and marvel at it as it becomes your pride and achievement.

There isn't really any physics involved in the game meaning you can build an unproportionate and an unbalanced building and it would not fall over, you could even build a floating islands with a castle on it, the game really harnesses your creativity and encourages imagination. so far ive seen Noah's ark, the titanic, a gigantic coca cola can and the Star Trek Enterprise.

Minecraft Enterprise

The game is about building however depending of the difficulty you set it on you may hear some growling from a zombie from outside your door. if your difficulty is set to normal or anything higher you will see and hear zombies and skeletons and more spawning anywhere but only when it is dark. When it becomes bright they will burn and die so you can wait until then.
However if you rather enjoy the game without any distraction then you can choose Peaceful mode, this will get rid of any zombies and skeletons from the game

One of the best things about Minecraft being in beta is that it is constantly being improved and free of bugs, but also adding few more tools here, more materials there. one element could dramatically change the game.
Theres are two types for the game, Beta and Classic in which both can be played single or multiplayer. Classic mode is a free version where you can build and remove blocks with unlimited block supply. This mode has single or multiplayer options and has no monsters and has more variety of materials blocks available.
Beta mode is a survival type as it spawns monsters when its dark, again this mode can be single or multiplayer. Players can acquire different craft tools such as shovels and pickaxes to chop dig soil or chop trees down to build or farm. During the day animals can be hunted for food and more materials.
The game is yet to be released on 11/11/11 same day as other big titles such as Elder Scrolls Skyrim, will it be one of the biggest selling games? we'll see
