Minneapolis Golf Courses

Minneapolis is located in the southeast region of Minnesota. The city offers an ideal selection of both public and private courses from which to choose. Perks of playing at public golf courses include lower rates and the flexibility that a private course does not offer. Due to cold weather extremes, visitors to Minneapolis should visit outside of the winter golf season.


Begin Oaks Golf Course

The Begin Oaks Golf Course is a seven-hole, par-34 course with a 64.6 course rating and a 107 slope rating. The 3,000-yard long course was designed by Bill Phillips in 2000. Golfers are taken through natural wetlands complete with numerous Oak and Evergreen trees. The club says its course is "like being Up North without the drive". The course offers lessons, leagues and outings.

Elm Creek Golf Course

Designed by Mervin and Mike Klatte, The Elm Creek Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-70 course with a course rating of 70.1 and a slope rating of 130. It measures in at 6,135 from the furthest tees. The course challenges golfers with narrow fairways, undulating greens and strategically placed hazards. The course hosts leagues, tournaments and special events.

Hiawatha Golf Course

Situated next to Lake Hiawatha, the Hiawatha Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-73 course with a length of 6,613 yards. It has a 71.2 course rating and a 126 slope rating. Golfers are presented with tree lines fairways, flat terrain and small greens. The course presents multiple challenges which include 12 ponds, a large lake and 30 bunkers. City Pages named Hiawatha Golf Course as the "Best Golf Course" in 2004 and 2008.

Columbia Golf Course

The Columbia Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-71 course. The course stretches 6,371 yards and possesses a 70.0 course rating and 122 slope rating. Course hazards include a parking lot on one hole, railroad tracks on two holes and water features on eight of the course's holes. The course driving range is complete with 43 stations. Apart from golf, the Columbia Golf Club offers archery, a bike path, and cross-country skiing.

Francis A. Gross Golf Course

Designed by W.D. Clark in 1925, the Francis A. Gross Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-71 course. It is 6,574 yards long with a course rating of 70.4 and a slope rating of 122. The course features elevated greens and tees situated along rolling terrain. Water hazards are present on three of the course's holes. There are three sets of tees which make the course playable for golfers of all abilities.
