Modern Day Wardrobe Closets: Decor And Placement
These days, it's not just the master bedroom that's home to the wardrobe closet.
These solid wood, heavy weight pieces of furniture look great in any room. So much in fact so that many families decide to put a nice wardrobe closet armoire directly in the most prominent spot: the living room.
Now, when placed in the living room, it's not going to be realistic to use it as a second closet or for closet space in general. But that's no matter, because who says what you can and can't place inside an armoire? In fact, hundreds of years ago, people used them to store weapons and food, so no one can tell you you're wrong for putting sheets, food, or even the family gun into the wardrobe closets in your home.
When the wardrobe closet is put into the living room, it makes for a grand entrance. It can tie a room together with it's large presence. Also, antique units add a nice sense of culture to a room. That being said, even wardrobe closets directly off the assembly line tend to give that old fashioned antique feel.
Other times people delegate the wardrobe closet to the dining room, and use it to store dinnerware and china. This trend comes and goes every few decades as American culture goes through it's phases of how to design the kitchens and the dining areas in relation to dinner ware storage. In my opinion, the dining room makes for an even better placement than the living room as it looks more natural, and the unit natural lends itself to functional usage.
Take a look at you and your home - where do you have space? Where would the room tie together the best with an antique piece of furniture? Don't be limited by the idea of just placing an antique wardrobe closet in the bedroom.
It's your home and your furniture - make the most of it!
