Mold Allergy Medicine
If you live in a damp house then you may be exposed to mold allergy, and if you are suffering from the symptoms of mold allergy you may be wondering if you can buy any mold allergy medicine for treating the condition. Before going into the details of mold allergy medicine, I first want to have a look at mold allergies and why they cause allergic reactions.
Mold allergy is basically caused by airborne mold and is really the same as having an allergic reaction to any other form of airborne irritants. When mold enters your body, the immune system overreacts to the mold spores that have gotten into your body through breathing.
The symptoms of mold allergy are much like those with allergic reactions to other similar respiratory induced allergies. Some of the symptoms include sore and itchy eyes, fits of coughing, runny nose, headaches, and a general feeling of illness. Mold allergy medicine attempts to alleviate some of these symptoms.
Almost everywhere we go we are exposed to airborne allergens of one sort or another and a lot of people are affected detrimentally by them. They can even cause many diseases. It is the microscopic spores that are causing most of this problem. The spores are part of the molds reproductive process. Most of these mold spores can actually stay airborne indefinitely.
Now you can see how the mold spores can actually get inside your body. There is nothing you can do about it, unless you want to wear a breathing mask all the time, because the mold spores are microscopic. So in order for the mold allergy medication to be very effective, you must also make efforts to change your environment. A lot of the time this means moving out of a damp house and into a home which is more conducive to keeping you allergy free. Most of the time moving out of your house and into a more suitable environment is not possible. So the next best thing is to remove the mold from your home. First you must remove excess moisture levels, and once the moisture level has dropped to a satisfactory level you can then attempt to remove all traces of the mold spores. This in effect will complete the remediation process and ensure that you do not need to take any more mold allergy medicine.
So what exactly is mold allergy medicine? Well, mold allergy medication is exactly the same type of medicine as is used in any other allergic reaction to airborne allergens, mold allergy medication is produced as corticosteroids, antihistamines, and bronchodilators. You can also take mold allergy medicine in the form of a series of injections that contain some of the mold in microscopic form. The mold allergy injections are given in sequence of strength, in other words you are first given a small dose, and this dose is gradually increased until you have a level of tolerance towards the mold allergen.
Eliminating the mold from your house is the only effective way of dealing with mold allergies. This is because you are eliminating the threat from your environment. Once you have control of your environment to this extent you will be a much better position to deal with mold allergy and you will not have to resort to mold allergy medicine.
