Monterey, more than a Jazz Festival or an aquarium

Every year, Monterey residents, along with visitors from all over the world, stream to the 20-acre, oak-studded Monterey County Fairgrounds for what is surely heaven on earth for music lovers. More than 500 top Jazz artists perform on nine stages spread out throughout the grounds with more than 50 concerts.For three days filled with music and fun close to their Monterey homes, locals mix with musicians and jazz lovers from all over the world for jazz concerts,panel discussions, workshops, exhibitions, clinics, and an exciting international array of food, shopping and festivities.

The owners of Monterey homes take price in the fact that the Monterey Jazz Festival is not just about concerts, food and fun. Its main purpose is to fund jazz education programs throughout Monterey County raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for scholarships for promising young musicians.

In fact, every spring, the Monterey Jazz Festival invites top student musicians from across the country and around the world to participate in the "Next Generation Festival." The Monterey Jazz Festival continues to attract top talent. In recent years close to their Monterey homes, locals got to enjoy the music of stars such as Dee Dee Bridgewater, Wynton Marsalis, Chick Corea and Harry Connick Jr, to name just a few.
