Mood Changing Nail Polish - How it Works and Where You Can Buy it

By Edited Jan 2, 2016 1 1

Ever wish you could just change the color of your nail polish almost instantly without having to deal with nail polish remover or a trip to your local nail salon? Don't look now but several companies have developed a brand new variety of nail polish that changes color with your mood. How does it work? Well, calling it mood nail polish might be a little bit of a misnomer because this red hot new cosmetic actually transforms based on changes in temperature. If you are enjoying a movie in a cool dark room or outside on a chilly overcast day, your body temperature settles in to a normal range and the color of your polish will gradually move to the cooler end or the range. On the other end of the spectrum, if you are sitting outside in the sun or engaging in a high level of physical activity; the polish color will shift to the warm end of the range and give you a different shade or possibly even an entirely new color! The speed of the color change is determined by how quickly the temperature rises of falls. It can respond to both environment changes such as reaching into the refrigerator and also to fluctuations in your body temperature.

These can be lots of fun and really be conversation starters as people watch your nails transform from pink to purple or any number of other entertaining combinations. One word of caution with these cool trendy polishes, if you are someone who has a tendency to get boiling mad; you may find that you give off a bit of a warning signal for an observative friend or relative. These unique new polishes come in a variety of different color combinations so you can decide in advance just how dramatic you want the change to be. Some people prefer to go with two similar colors that shift back and forth ever so slightly to add an accent to an outfit while others prefer to be more bold and aggressive with a nail polish that changes from a mellow purple to a sparkling metallic green. Don't worry about unpleasant surprises as the label on the bottle will show you exactly what colors you will see so you know what to expect. This can come in handy if you want to avoid loud bright colors at work or just enjoy a little predictability in life.

Where to Buy Them

You can find color and mood changing nail polish online from a variety of different retailers and in some of the larger mall based cosmetics stores as well. Claire's recently introduced a small line of mood nail polish and has started carrying it in some of their store locations. So far, I've seen about four different color choices that all seem to be based around shades of blue or green. These ones seem to be ideal for teenagers and the younger crowd. Del Sol also makes a line of mood changing fingernail polish that comes in an extensive collection of colors and shades. If you are having trouble finding it, you can be sure that a growing number of stores will be carrying it this season as it becomes more and more popular. This trend is just getting started so it's a good bet that some of the major brands such as OPI and Hard Candy will quickly get on board and introduce their own lines in the near future. Until it gets a bit more established in stores, you may have to buy online from a favorite cosmetics seller. Never tried a mood change polish before? Treat your nails to something out of the ordinary and have a little fun with your friends along the way! You'll be amazed at just how much attention you can draw from these.

Sounds interesting. I usually buy OPI nail polish, but I will look into this.
