Get More Out Of Your Window Film

If you are not familiar with stained glass window films, basically it is a new product of home improvement that offers a cheaper alternative to traditionally made stained glass windows. It consists of a beautifully designed thin adhesive film that you can apply over your existing windows at home.  Years ago, if you wanted that stained glass look in your house, you would be looking at spending a small fortune (around $120 per square foot) because each window is meticulously handcrafted for many hours,  or even days.  Today, anyone can have this look in their home by simply visiting their local hardware store or purchasing online. Easy, cost-effective, and beautiful!

There are more reasons that homeowners should be using stained glass window films  other than cost and aesthetics alone.  Lets take a look at a few of these benefits:

Interchangeability - One of the greatest benefits of using stained glass window film is the fact that you can change it whenever you want.  Are you getting bored of the design you chose?  Are you remodeling your home again? Is it about time to replace an old film? Faux films are easy to remove and replace, without much effort.

Furniture upholstery protection - Most people know that the ultraviolet rays (UV) from the sun can damage your eyes and skin, but are unaware that they can potentially damage your furniture and carpet as well! Luckily, many window film manufacturers offer some products that contain UV protection.  Most have a clear film specifically for UV protection but there are many companies that are already including this technology within their faux-stained glass products. Just be sure to do your research to see if your film has this protection.

Lower solar heat gain - Window films will block the heat from the sun during those hot summer months, which in turn, has the potential for lowering your energy (HVAC) costs.  This will also have an effect on the room in which the stained film is applied.  Light within that room will be reduced depending on the design of your windows. So depending on you as a homeowner, this may or may not be a good thing.

Reduced solar glare - As mentioned before, low light levels are to be expected in rooms that utilize decorative film.  These rooms will also have reduced solar glare, which is great for those of us who are constantly on our computers,  smartphones, tablets, or love to read.
