Movie Review Scooby Doo and the Legend of the Phantasaurus

By Edited Nov 15, 2013 0 0

Scooby Doo cartoons have been around since the 1960s. This series has remained a classic because of the mysteries and mostly the friendship between Shaggy and Scooby Doo. The movie Scooby Doo and the Legend of the Phantasaurus is another classic Scooby Doo movie. All ages will love this movie. It is the best new Scooby Doo movie that has been made in a long time. One of the main reasons for this is because it sticks to the original Scooby Doo series feel with a few new twists.

First of all, the beginning of this movie will capture the audience's attention right away, especially if a child is watching. After the neat cartoon credits, the movie starts with a long scream from a terrified Shaggy. He screamed so long that the gang had to take him to the hospital to find out how to stop him. This is a funny way to introduce the cartoon. It's typical of Shaggy's cowardly nature, but it's a funny new twist. The doctor gets Shaggy to stop screaming, but firmly emphasizes to the gang that Shaggy can not help solve any mysteries. In fact, he has to be in a calm environment or the screaming incident will keep happening.

The gang wants to help Shaggy so they decide to do as the doctor asks. They take Shaggy to the least scary city they can find. This funny guy who owns a spa and is suppossed to help Shaggy relax meets them. He ends up hypnotizing Shaggy so that every time he hears the word bad he becomes invincible. The hypnotist forgets what the key word is so through the movie the gang is trying to figure out what the key word is. The first time Shaggy turns into this crazy ninja guy is when this biker gang comes into the all you can eat cafe. They say the word bad and Shaggy proceeds to knock them all out. This is a hilarious new twist, especially since he and Scooby had just ate a ton of food as usual. When the word bad is said again Shaggy is his old self and wonders how all those guys got knocked out.

The romance between Daphne and Fred is still apparent though they are both still in denial. However, Velma finds her love match also. Things don't quite work out as well for her, but it's still a cute addition to the Scooby Doo norm. The nice thing is that the monsters end up being people controlled just like in the original Scooby Doo show. For some reason in some of the newer movies, people tried to add witch craft and make the monsters real. This was so lame and ruined the movie for the early Scooby Doo lovers. This movie, however was a pleasant surprise. The ending has a funny new twist too.  Anyone who watches is sure to love this.

If you are looking for a clean, funny movie to watch with the kids or by yourself this is it. This movie will make you laugh and will be a classic for all you Scooby Doo lovers. If you love family fun and especially if you love Scooby Doo you will not want to miss this movie. Try it today.
