Mowing the Lawn
Mowing the lawn is an important part of lawn care. It needs to be done on a schedule, at the proper height, and safely. Determine what your goals are with your lawn and work that into your basic lawn care regime. Learning how to mow the grass entails learning how your lawnmower works, how fast your grass grows, and how to mow so that the grass looks the way you want it to when you are finished.
If you want to have a beautiful, golf course, green lawn, expect to do a lot of extra work. If you want a decent lawn for the kids to play on, less time and work will be required. If you just don't want to get a fine from the city, you can go two weeks (or more) without mowing, depending on rainfall and other weather conditions. If you want to have a totally organic lawn using green mowers or reel mowers the steps required will be totally different.
The main thing you need to mow the lawn is a lawnmower. These can be electric, gas, or human powered. If you have a huge lawn you might look into a riding mower. What type of mower you end up getting is determined somewhat by your pocketbook. The fancier types will cost a lot more than a simple push and cut mower.
A byproduct of mowing the lawn is grass clippings. There are many things that you can do with grass clippings. Most people do not want a lot of piles of browning grass cluttering up their green lawn and the easiest way to deal with them is to use a mulching mower. A mulching mower chops the grass clipping up into teeny tiny pieces which are not visible. These grass bits fall between the blades of grass to help fertilizer the soil.
Figure out what you want and get out there and cut that grass … or weeds, whatever you yard is made of.
