This is one of my favourite songs that reminds me of my parents every time I hear it. My parents always listened to this disco music which got me into it when I was younger. When I hear this song and it reminds me of when I was young, it brings the child back out of me. I used to always get up and dance by myself in my family room with everyone laughing that I loved this song so much. When I hear it the music just goes through my body and gets me moving. This will always be one of my favourite songs that I can just get up and dance no matter what mood I am in.
Artist Name: Tom Browne
Song Name: Funkin’ For Jamaica
Composer: Tom Browne
Release Date: March 1979
Record Label: GRP
Chart Peak Position: Pop: N/A and R&B: 1
This song brings back great memories for me when I hear it. It reminds me of when I went to Jamaica two years ago with a bunch of my friends. We had such an awesome time in Jamaica with a beautiful beach at a really nice resort and wonderful weather. Just hearing the word Jamaica in the song makes me think about lying down on the beach in Jamaica and how much we all enjoyed being there. This is a funk song with a groovy beat to it; however, the actually beat of the music does not remind me of Jamaica because it is more reggae music there.
Artist Name: T-Connection
Song Name: Saturday Night
Composer: Coakley
Release Date: March 1979
Record Label: T.K
Chart Peak Position: Pop: N/A and R&B: 28
This song reminds me of my father driving me to school every morning; he owned every album ever made by T-Connection, and loved to play and sing along to them. This song gets people in the mood and ready to go out on the weekend and have a good time with their friends. When my family had friends over on the weekend this song always came on because they enjoyed just sitting there, talking and listening to this song in the background. It reminded them of when they were younger and listens to this song before they would go out on the weekend.
Artist Name: Peaches & Herb
Song Name: Ruinted
Composer: Fekaris-Perren
Release Date: March 1979
Record Label: Polydor
Chart Peak Position: Pop: 1 and R&B: 1
his song excites me, and makes me want to start moving in any which way that I can. I think that it is the combination of the fast tempo, and the memory that it provokes that excites me. The lyrics in this song emphasize family, and its importance in life; nonetheless, they remind me of my uncle Mario. He would always talk about how we were all family, and how important families were because they would be with you for the rest of your life. I don’t think the underlying meaning of the song follows along the same lines as the underlying meaning of my uncles statements; however, it reminds me of him regardless of how related they are.

Chart Peak Position: Pop: 1 and R&B: 1
This song is a very popular song still today that is everywhere. This is a song everybody knows and just sings to it when they hear it doesn’t matter where they hear it because everybody just knows the lyrics. It is always on the radio, it is used in commercials and in T.V shows. There is a specific time I heard this on T.V on the show Will and Grace when another character Jack sings and dances to it. It made me laugh the first time I saw it and every other time after. Whenever I watch that episode, I know the part is coming and I can’t wait because it always puts a smile on my face.
Artist Name: Michael Jackson
Song Name: Don`t Stop Till You Get Enough
Composer: Jackson/Jackson
Release Date: September 1979
Record Label: Epic
Chart Peak Position: Pop: 1 and R&B: 1
This song by the famous artist Michael Jackson is a very popular song. It was a major release, just like many of his other songs. It hit number one on both charts; it was a major hit as soon as it came out. Michael Jackson is a great singer and a wonderful performer that makes any song look good. I specifically like this song by Michael Jackson because it reminds me of when my sister and I would do silly things. We would always play this song and try to dance like Michael just for fun when we had nothing else to do. We finally realized we will probably never dance as good as he does.

The upbeat style of this song made me feel like getting up and dancing. The song was seemingly attempting to convince me that I have a very good life and should not take it for granted. After listening to the song I felt as if I had a position in life to make a difference for other people who are not as blessed as me. Moreover the song made me feel as if they wanted me to help. After listening to this song I felt convinced that helping others was part of my dream, and the only way to fulfill it would be to join a community service to help others.
